In really life the velociraptor was much smaller and fluffier than what is usually depicted in popular culture. It likely wasn't nearly that fast, smart, or strong in real life. Now its relatives the deinonychus and dromaeosaurus could reach larger sizes depicted in popular culture.Related content

The ones in Jurassic Park were based primarily off of Utahraptors a specific breed of them.

True. Just based on larger raptors. The name Velociraptor sounds more menacing thus more marketable. Hollywood doesn't value accuracy.

According to the source material, books and movies they aren't perfect clones and thus modified genetically. Isn't scifi fun? Sometimes filmmakers and writers have to take creative liberities.
