Description
Crack pairing for your approval: Draculaura and Dracula from Hotel Transylvania.
For those of you saying: OMG, Draculaura's a teenager! Yeah, she's only 1,600 years old. I know Mattel made her that age to fulfill a punchline, but they do give constant nods to her age. They put her in Goth Loli outfits and she plays up the innocent thing with pigtails and frills and lace, but she's still over a thousand.
And then, out of the blue, in the 'I Love Shoes' doll, they ditched the entire goth look and put her in classic '50s elegance.

The high waisted skirt, the tartan capelet, the little white gloves --! She looks so mature! Adorbs!
On the flip side, Hotel Transylvania wasn't the kind of movie that had a serious message; it was funny stuff about silly monsters. But. If it could be claimed to have a message, that would be 'parents have to let their kids go eventually' but the OTHER message was that you get one true love. One. That's it. If something happens to your lover, you're cursed to a lifetime of solitude. And if you're immortal, then it just sucks to be you.
That's stupid.
So maybe grown-up Lala takes a vacation to Hotel Transylvania and Drac finds out that you can have two zings.
**UPDATE**
Colored because I'm still snowed in!

While coming out of seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron, I saw a poster for Hotel Transylvania 2. I had no idea.

Oh, I loved the movie...until the very end when they had to "pop it up." In my opinion, the music took me out of the fantasy of it.

I agree that the 'you only get one' message kinda sucked, but I think I also know why they did it. If you got more than one true love, then it wouldn't have been such an enormous deal for Johnny and Mavis to not get together. Sad, yes, but not life-shattering. The 'only happens once' thing made it absolutely imperative that Drac and the others get over their fear and accept Johnny in spite of his species. That said, it still kinda sucks. Not only because it leaves Drac forever alone, but because it enforces the concept that a romantic relationship can only have two people - something Charles and the Triplets would likely be quite cross over. It would have been nice to see them find something else to use as their plot point than 'true wuv only comes once.'
In any case, I think this could be a completely adorable pairing and crossover, especially if the casts of both movies got pulled in. For instance, it would be neat to see Jackson and Johnny comparing notes over being the only/one of the only human(s) in a monster-based population.

That's true. Like I said, it was probably the wrong movie to expect a serious story from.
Yeah, I like it!

Eh, you can look at the entire 'humans evil/monsters evil depending on your POV' thing as a message about tolerance for those different than us, and not to let old history define current interactions. ... ...I apologize, I went to Uni for English, and got bit by the literary analysis bug hard... It doesn't actually turn off anymore... >_>
On the plus side, yay, glad you like it! ^U^

Never say Hotel Transylvania...but the "you only get one" thing is sort of...idk I think that sort of thing works for humans better than immortals...

Yeah, if you're going to live forever, you have to have a little wiggle room.

I think for some people, it does work that way. But they are not in the majority. I have been seriously in love twice in my life, and I can't wait to do it all over again. And I think this pic is wonderful. You work that look, Draculaura!

I just thought it was a rotten message 'You only get one!' Especially since Dracula's wife was killed over a hundred years ago. It's obvious from his behavior that he's still very much in mourning and everyone around him wants him to heal but they just treat the situation like something tragic and sad. Like he might as well just pull a Vincent and stay in his coffin.

Yeah that's crap and it's a really bad message to pass on to kids. I mean okay I can understand that he's still sad, but dismissing him like he doesn't matter anymore is just wrong.

SparklinBurgndy In reply to MagicRat [2014-01-08 16:34:11 +0000 UTC]
It wasn't so much that they dismissed him, his friends tried to get him to do things he used to do, but there was never any sense that life would go on. Or unlife, or whatever. His life was raising his daughter and running his hotel and that was it.
Maybe I'm just reading too far into it.

It's possible that it touched a nerve in you, yes, but so what? That doesn't make your opinion invalid. You see something in the film that upsets you and causes you pain and therefore it exists and your feelings are real.

They're from different universes, I think it's okay to write it off. Drac's daughter is Mavis, not Lala.
