hi im here to ramble about vivian a sec
vivs has always been a big fav paper mario partner of mine?? for years?? so of course when im rly young im lookin online at fanart of vivs and people keep bringing up that shes a boy??

of course im young and i dont get it but im like "no shes a girl??" even after learning that in the japanese version //air quotes "she was a boy" i still kept defending her and calling her a girl
of course i was too young to understand she was trans, but because of that it makes me realize what a big shame it was that they censored her being trans in the english release of the game. especially with how bad nintendo was with the whole birdo/birdetta thing.

it would've been really important to help ppl understand trans ppl and it was rly good representation for trans people, i think!! vivs dealt with a bit of transphobia from beldam (calling her a man) and even goombella misgendered her at first, but then by the end of the game she gets validation for her gender and?? idk i think it could've been really good

certain other countries kept the trans story mostly in tact, it's just kind of a shame the usa couldn't have that too. if they kept that in, maybe i could've had a better understanding earlier on, and i'd know that those people calling her a guy were just as in the wrong as beldam was, y'know? those're just my thoughts, though.
