Description
Legend of Zelda -Twilight PrincessPrincess Zelda Cosplay
Everything is handmade by yours truly (except the gloves, which I painted). All the designs are handpainted, the apron is hand dyed and the design is sewn on. Dress is about 10 yards of bridal satin and faux suede. The pattern was modified from a cheerleader costume. Armor is made of Volara and craft foam. Sculpy was also used for some decorations.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
This took about 3 years (on and off) to finally complete and I still have some things I want to do to it.
Debut at Tokyo in Tulsa 2011
Awards: 2nd Place in the Cosplay Contest at Tokyo in Tulsa
Princess Zelda belongs to Nintendo

Hi! I've got a question about your wig. Were did you bought it? Is it a wig with or without a bang/fringe? I'm searching everywhere to find a good wig, but all I can find are wigs with bangs Thank you!

I actually use my real hair for Zelda... The "hair noodle" things in front are just loose extensions that I hot glued to the ribbon and beads to and attached to the crown.
BUT!
If you are going for a wig though... I'd go for one without bangs. I've had good luck with Arda Wigs. ( arda-wigs.com ) They're nice and big so your head wont want to blow up after wearing one and they are very thick. They also say that they're heat resistant- but I haven't put that to the test. Not sure how their international shipping works.
Just from a quick peek, I'd go for the "Galadriel" wig ( [link] ) in color "Dark Brown" or "Sandy Brown" if you want lighter. You can trim it a little in back when you do the braid if it's too long. Then I'd get some of their long wefts ( [link] ) in a matching color to make the hair noodles.
I recommend keeping the noodles separate from the wig and attaching them to the crown. That way they're always going to be in the right place in relation to the crown and you won't have to worry about parting/styling the wig in weird ways to make the noodles look nice.
Hoped that helped.

You own hair? God, you're blessed! I indeed saw something on Arda Wigs, but it will cost me more than 170 dollar (125 euro) in total to get it here xD That included the wig, and 4 wefts in total. So I was trying to find a good alternative. But I guess, you can't save some money on a really good wig!
So I'm going to save some money for it. I'm just not sure which color I want to use. I think the Sandy Brown is to light, so I'm doubting between the Dark Brown and the Spanish Brown. But maybe the Dark brown will be better :3
Thank you!!!

Yeah, I have a lot of hair. I also don't like wearing wigs so I make it work lol
170 bucks? Dayum! I'd keep shopping around, I don't know of anywhere overseas to get good wigs... Sorry.
The wig in your pics of your old costume looks nice, where'd you find it?
Good luck girly!

Hi! I wanted to ask you some other questions about your cosplay. I went to Tsunacon (Netherlands) last sunday where I debuted my first cosplay ever, Zelda. I want to improve it for next year, so what I wanted to ask you is, how you made those arm bracelets (on top of your gloves). Are they somehow attached to your gloves? And did you color those symbols on the bottom of your dress? Thnx!!

Ask away buddy ^_^
My arm bands are made out of craft foam (fun foam, whatever. It comes in a sheet and you can get it at pretty much any crafty store. Super cheap.) measured to fit the part of my arm I wanted them to be at.
I glued on the designy parts (also made of craft foam) on with hot glue, then spray painted it all silver, worked some aging magic with black acrylic and silver "rub n' buff", then put a coat of clear spray paint over it all to seal the paint (VERY IMPORTANT OR THE RUB N BUFF/ACRYLIC WILL RUB OFF ON YOUR SKIN- NOT A GOOD LOOK).
Then the ends of the bands are stitched together (just choose a thread that blends with the paint- line up the seam with the seam on the gloves) and then they're stitched to the tops of the gloves. I also put a strip of duct tape around the inside of the band/top of the glove to reinforce it a bit more.
I'm actually remaking the glove tops for an upcoming con since my arms are fatter than last time I wore this, I could put up a step by step picture walkthough if you want.
Yes, the designs are painted. I made a stencil from contact paper, stuck it on the dress and went nuts. I painted them with pearlescent medium (something you add to acrylic paint to make it shimmery- although I didn't add any other color to it. I just used it straight out of the jar) and went around the edges with a silver sharpie when the paint was dry.
Sorry for such a lengthy response, let me know if it helps or if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much! ^^ This would help me improve my cosplay for next year But if it's really not any problem, I really would see your step-by-step guide
(I'm visually oriented
). I'm always having problems making the gloves -__-" so I used long white gloves instead of making them my self..

Oh yeah I bought my gloves too. No shame in that lol.
It'll be a few weeks until I'm able to get a tutorial up, I'm out of town right now but I'll do it as soon as I can.

Ok, so honestly all I did this time was tack the glove to the armband with a couple stitches and I duck taped the bejeezus out of it on the inside. It held way better than the last time around lol. So that's what I recommend. Just get some "good" tape- I find the cheap stuff doesn't stick as well.
I guess I was making it more complicated than it needed to be XD
