Description I don't know why, but I can't get the idea out of my head. It's like a pilot for a TV show. Not really a fanfiction so much since much of the appeal would be the mixed-media involved with using different animation styles and music/songs as much as story telling itself.

It is based on the world/series of Disney's The Lion King and the sequel(s).

I am working on a few graphics for it but here is the general breakdown-
Sarabi is the Story Keeper for the Pride, but as she knows her days are numbered,
she seeks a replacement as the pride's historian, teacher, and moral guidance counselor.
The candidates are Kiara and Kovu's three cubs- Akili, Mwili, and Nafasi.
Akili- the oldest, is very observant and has a great memory. She is very curious about the world around here, and has explored and cataloged it extensively. She knows what berries are the sweetest, how to tell the time of day and how many moons until her birthday, and what sounds mean danger. She has discovered how to make music with different plants and objects and enjoys doing so. She is very technical, precise, and can be critical and harsh without realizing that she comes across a bit heartless.
Mwili- the middle son, is very active and strong. He experiences the world face-first, rushing into situations that might have amazing rewards or dangerous results. He's the fastest and determined to follow in his fathers and grandfather's pawprints. He has strength, but also amazing grace and coordination, able to balance on the thinnest of vines and leap the widest gaps and swim the roughest waters. He might not have mastered music making like his sister, but boy can he groove! He might not be the brightest but he's always willing to help others or join in a little friendly sparring.
Nafasi- the youngest, is still finding her way. She lacks the keen wit and able body of her older siblings, but she idolizes them both and makes up for what she lacks by understanding others and making friends with the most unlikely of characters. She sings from her heart and uses her voice to express herself. She's a little bit silly and a little bit of a prodigy and of course being the baby of the family means she's sometimes a bit spoiled, but anything she really puts her whole effort into usually benefits everyone involved.

Sarabi tells them and their parents stories about her childhood- which focus on the relationship between Mufasa and his brother (who wouldn't be called scar until later) and her and her sisters- and stories about Simba's childhood- which focus on simba's relationship with his parents and nala and zazu.
But also stories about far-away places, make believe creatures, and dreams and wishes. They would be new and old short stories from the Disney archives and worlds. Think Ariel, Wall-E, and Bambi.
Sarabi's stories have a moral which helps the cubs with a problem or situation they are facing- thus an episode would be split into parts and have a wide range of possibilities for old favorites and exciting new characters.

Other characters include the other members of the pride, timone and pumba, timone's family, the hyenas, and the members of a bachelor pride of nomadic lions that frequently pass near the pridelands. The Bachelors include (the 'deleted') Kopa(as kiara's younger grown brother), three cubs (Indigo who is barely older than Akili, and his two brothers Pacha and Pili who are a little younger than Nafasi) and their grandfather(a white lion), and other random males. The cubs often interact with the main characters.

Soon, the cubs would face their first challenge as potential Story Keepers- tell a story of their own.
Akili's story is very precise. Her tale is completely true and includes a score of minute details which don't pertain to the story. Mwili falls asleep and Nafasi is confused.
Mwili's story is action packed as he uses exciting gestures to engage the audience and keep them guessing. But he's guessing too because he's making everything up as he goes along and ends up having to stop the story wherever he runs out of ideas- way before any sort of conclusion.
Nafasi's story is a fable. Akili complains that it's "not true" and Mwili complains that the characters don't do anything (because they're talking flowers), but the story has a meaning behind it.
Sarabi explains that stories aren't just about facts and details, and they aren't just about being entertaining and fun-- they are about what you learn from them and how you can use them to teach and help others.

"Being a Story Keeper doesn't mean keeping stories to yourself- it means keeping them alive."
