SPC5297 — My one problem with Juri Han

Juri is one of my favorite Street Fighter character. But her goals don't really make sense.Her father was a lawyer investigating Shadaloo, so I'm guessing he was a good guy. Then Shadaloo, that evil organization we just talked about, kidnaps her and her family, kills her parents, and she loses an eye from the endeavor. So instead of becoming some awesome anti-hero trying to avenge her parents, she becomes a villain who murders innocent people. I don't think her mom and dad would appreciate her trying to avenge their deaths by killing others who weren't even involved. I just think it wild have been cool if she became some sort of badass vigilante seeking vengeance, like Batman or the Punsisher.
But I guess it's none of my business.

Well she suffered severe psychological trauma following the ordeal. So there's that. Probably other things along the way that hasn't been explained yet. Technically she is a anti hero of the sorts.....but she really more or less blurs the line between good and evil. She is evil yes....and she wants vengeance and she really doesn't care who she has to go through in order to get that vengeance. If people wanna get in her way of stopping Bison that's their problem.

I kind of wished they gave more detail about her family's kidnapping. There was a short story in the Udon Comics that explained some of her backstory. Before her parents were murdered and she lost her eye, Juri was a very shy and passive aggressive fifteen-year-old girl. Her parents were, I guess, forcing her to take tai kwon do to bring her family honor, or something. Unfortunately, she wasn't very good at it. Also, her parents were portrayed as total d-bags. After the incident she became all cold and heartless. She wasn't making any sexual innuendos or licking her lips, so I guess that happens later.
But that's still a ten year gap. I want to know more about why she backstory.

I don't think her parents were total D-bags. I blame her mother mostly. Pre Juri was your typical teenage girl. It was said that she was a TKD prodigy at age 15 basically the best in South Korea. There is much still that isn't revealed such as what exactly happened, how she exactly came to be how she is today, how much power she really has etc etc. There's still much left in the shadows about Juri. As being forced...honestly I really don't know. I doubt she was forced. Maybe she didn't have the proper motivation to really bother. Who knows. Everything is still cloudy. Story-wise there isn't a whole lot go run with. Tha'ts why I'm in SF5 and some more comics I get to find out just who Juri truly is. She's supposed to be a villian. The way she acts though is more neutral then anything. Of course she doesn't give a crap about good or bad. She just wants vengeance, and she'll cut down anyone to get where she needs.
That's another why I like her. She's a lunatic but at the same time just really messed up, she's like a glass window that shattered into a million pieces. It's intriguing.

Well now that you mention it, Juri's dad wasn't as bad as her mom. He just didn't seem interested in what she was doing. That or he was too preoccupied with his prosecution against Shadaloo.

Her dad sounded like a workaholic, but it seemed (so far) that he genuinely cared for his daughter...Her mother on the other hand....Juri probably loved her mom..but I don't think as much as her father. Of course going off 6 pages of isn't exactly a whole lot to work with. I bet he worked with Chun's father at one point. Wouldn't surprise me. I dunno. All I know is Juri is a badass. And that she grew up into this beautiful yet deadly person. Screw the goody two shoes crap. Make this chick badass.
