I'm scared of this world ending

And of being up too high
My heart beats much faster when

The darkness swallows light
Everything around me can suddenly become a threat
Rejection chills my spine
Real monsters of hate and jealousy haunt my life
In the dead of night, I hear nails screeching on my window
Freezing my thoughts as I grab for the light just out of my reach
If slanted eyes stare hungrily at my shivering body,
Everything inside of me twists. my stomach distorts into a mangled knot
Dare I peek through the slits of my fingers?

Open my eyes and turn to the dark prowlers just outside my door
Fear eats my insides, sweat drips from my skin

Might there be some awful creature under my bed?
Your eyes examine me, am I what you expect?
Stealthy shadows creep about, waiting for the perfect time
Even the howling of the ravenous wolves at the moon sends a chill down my spine
Like fire from water, I run
From this, my truest and deepest f.e.a.r
