Description
Martian Phosphorescent fish from Le Docteur Oméga (1906) by Arnould Galopin.Rough translation:
“Across the Milky Way, a distant nebula, thousand points of light went out and re-formed, extending to infinity, then suddenly merged into a rain of light.
- This is certainly not the sun that illuminates the sea, I said to the doctor.
- Look up, he replied.
I looked up and I saw the way, quickly, shiny fish, strange shapes, elongated body with triangular heads.
It seemed that the window was a kaleidoscope in which a mysterious fairy would have liked to scroll all the inhabitants of the seas.
I could not restrain a cry of admiration.
The doctor then told me that these fish were phosphorescent, and it was they who spread around us and this wonderful clarity.”
“The phosphorescent fish had reappeared in the thousands, and threw themselves on the monster with a ferocity which shocked us.”
