Description Redesign of the Public Domain comic book character Octobriana, Spirit of the October Revolution.

Said to have been created in the 60s in the Soviet Union by a dissident artist collective called Progressive Political Pornography, Octobriana was meant to embody true Communist ideals. In the story, her real name is Mahari and she is said to be thousands of years old, the child of a Viking and a Toltec princess, who was exposed to radiation in a volcano that gave her powers and immortality.

It turns out, though, the character was a hoax. Petr Sadecký hired Czech creators named Bohumil Konečný and Zdeněk Burian to create a superheroine named Amazona. Sadecký then stole the artwork with the intention of marketing it to the West. He altered the dialogue and drew a red star on her forehead and sold her as an underground political statement.

Despite it being a fraud, the character was very popular in indie circles. David Bowie was a huge fan, and Billy Idol has a tattoo of Octobriana on his arm.
