Description The ghost spervogul (Dutch words for “spear bird”) is a gull-like ramphodont that inhabits the coastal regions of the upmost part of Giyudi. It occupies a niche similar to most sea birds on Earth, such as gannets, gulls, albatrosses, etc.
The spervogul’s overall body length measures 1.2 meters (4 ft), with its wingspan being 78 cm (2.5 ft) long. This pseudave is so named for its spear-shaped beak it uses to stab and/or impale prey whilst plunging into the ocean.
Like all spervoguls, ghost spervoguls are gathered in large colonies to forage and reproduce. During the day, they search for food either near their breeding site or out to sea. Breeding sites are located on either rocky islands, coastal hillsides, or cliff sides, purposely to avoid predators. Fights between two males usually occur when establishing a breeding spot, and can usually result in serious injuries such as damaged wings.
