The air was thick and cool up along the mountain tops that night. James had been hiking most of the day, and it was apparent due to his nature of hiking, journaling, and then sketching. It was a routine he had, ever since he was a boy. But this time, the bachelor toko had followed him.
The male tokota hadn't gotten close to James, but did lope along behind through the thick footed hills in a rather curious but precautionary way. He was most likely following him to ensure he would leave what he assumed his territory. However, the toko never did outright go to attack the man who had clambered upon the rocky face and seemed to drift right into a deep sleep.
The tokota, passively watching him from the ledge, had made the choice to leave him alone. Instead, he had glanced off in the distance and stared at the snow-filled hills rolling far behind them. Up here, the bachelor felt himself king of the world--and this human whom he stalked.
