this reminds me of the book silverwing/sunwing, where the main char (Can't remember his name whoops ) says something about the ancestor of all bats having wings so vast that they created the night sky

The silverwing books were among my favourite books as a child and definitely contributed to my interest in bats. I borrowed the books from the local library and liked them so much that after I had to return them I directly borrowed them again and read them a second time. The name of the main character was Shade, but I did not remember the part about the night sky anymore, I definitely have to reread the books! There is also a third book, Firewing, but I did not like it as much as the first two. Also I think there is a prequel, but I never read it.
