I've found that I have the most fun drawing paperdolls with space to sketch, doodle and write ideas and mental jargon all around it. Or combine paperdolls with pages of sketches, so that I'm sure to do both, generate ideas and draw as a way of actively thinking things out before I do them or choose to do anything further with them. I also have ideas of things I want to do and bring back, but I want drawing Sonic to be based on habit rather than gimmicks, so first things first is practicing the style. Right now I really like the Sonic CD opening, and how his quills are sticking up and back like they're gelled up, and with big, chunky gloves and shoes. So this is a young, classic-looking Sonic the Second with a retro CD style, while I practice it.

This one's bigger, there's no scale to it.
