Description Edit - Got some requests so I put this up as a print on RedBubble if anyone wants one :3

I'm not actually joining since I just finished the last round of and need a frikkin break but AATR's Go Fourth posters were purty dang awesome and it was about time I did another family portrait. So here's to the spirit of competition and the voices in our heads!

I don't know how to do beautiful, ornate designs for the background so it's just a conglomeration of characters.
I could rattle off the list of all the character names but only a few of them are relevant so I shall refrain!

Anyways, I greatly enjoyed the exercise in inking and got to play around with my greyscale markers again! It's a big ol' 18x24

Also if you take away my personas one might realize I only have two girl characters... I should probably fix this....

Thank you! It was very much fun to do; so much that I inked the whole thing in one sitting :3

That's nice to hear. But don't forget about digital inking too. Although I do still enjoy traditional inking too.

Digital inking takes forever haha. I can literally ink ten times faster traditionally

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

spongefox In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-10 17:37:06 +0000 UTC]

But most of the time, digital line art makes the image(s) look cleaner.

True but when you're working for a company on a deadline you gotta get stuff done. Can't be too perfectionistic

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

spongefox In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-12 07:00:54 +0000 UTC]

meaning, traditional inking's faster?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-12 15:46:05 +0000 UTC]

For me personally, yes, ten times faster (I can produce 4 8.5x11 digitally inked pages in about the time it took me to traditionally ink 40)

Don't you enjoy inking digitally? It can save you lots of cash.

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-13 21:07:58 +0000 UTC]

Inking digitally is something I do enjoy for one-shot illustrations, but for comics I prefer traditional. I may spend a bit more money traditionally, but the time I save makes up for the small loss of cash :3

What brand(s) of pens do you mostly use? Do you use those refillable pens, or throw away?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-15 02:15:50 +0000 UTC]

Mostly Pentel brush pens, but I found a different brand (can't remember ATM!) with refill cartridges cuz I don't want to spend $7 every time I need a new marker

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

spongefox In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-15 02:53:00 +0000 UTC]

Is that a brush pen brand, or a regular tipped pen, with refillable cartridges? Where can I find it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-15 03:20:53 +0000 UTC]

I used to use this brush pen. Now I use a different one but it's imported from Japan or something and the brand is in another language so I can't read it- and I can't find the link to it at the moment, but I'll eventually have to get refills so it so I'll let you know when I go hunt down the information u @

You can find Pentel's stuff on the internet or at some art stores. This brush pen makes the best lines in my opinion, but it doesn't sell refillable cartridges so I've had to stop using it

spongefox In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-15 07:40:41 +0000 UTC]

I like brush pens, but I personally prefer the more finer/felt tipped sort of pens. The brush tips seem to fray after while

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-15 22:33:01 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean, haha. I can't stand brush tips that don't stay super fine. The one I have isn't like a "real" brush luckily, it's all one piece- just a giant pointy brush-shaped chunk

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

spongefox In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-16 00:40:33 +0000 UTC]

Is it the one with the refillable ink? Cause I might try it out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spectrumelf In reply to spongefox [2015-09-16 01:02:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah- but it'll take me some backtracking to find the link to it. This specific one is only available off the Internet (since its imported from Japan)

Thank you, I probably shall! ^u^ Β And lucky for me, greyscale images are way cheaper to print than color, meaning if I printed some myself I could get more profit mwahahaaa

Spectrumelf In reply to DJScratch-Rabbit [2015-09-10 04:30:51 +0000 UTC]

Haha like I said, I'm not trying to audition or join AATR. I just really liked the spirit of the tournament :3

I won't be joining OCT's for a looooong time, if at all. But if I did- yup, I would attempt to join a 'bigger' one under the assumption that more people value the tourney and their characters/story in general :3

DJScratch-Rabbit In reply to Spectrumelf [2015-09-10 07:57:04 +0000 UTC]

there are big time OCL's (OC leagues) that tend to have advanced skilled comic artists, like you spirogs, that fight for records and fight when they feel like it. SDL (samurai dueling league) Β is a huge one, very popular. I know theres a huge one off of deviant art, if you gave me some time i could track down what its called again...thats if your interested. just remind me to find it for you.
