Description
Ranma1/2. I can reread that manga a bazillion times and still love each single panel.Although I like drawing women having actual hips (why all of these bony skeletons nowadays?), this might be a bit over the top. I rushed to get this done in one day, but I do not remember how many hours it took. Pfft, it is quite funny how their faces change so much they look like different persons in every panel.
It is strange, but whenever I try to draw a comic I am having lots of fun making up jokes until I get to the actual punch line. I can never come up with a punch line! What is wrong with me?
Anyways, I know that people often complain about Akane being violent, but this is a great example of why that might be a good thing. A pitiful little stomp is not funny. She should have sent him flying or something (it was fun drawing her degree of anger increasing though).

I always felt that Akane got mad at Ranma's insults not just becuase he insults her flaws, but she tries hard to please him and when she fails it comes off as Ranma rubbing her failures in her face and that she isn't good enough for him.

XD I could totally see this actually happening in the manga. *sigh* Poor Ranma, you need to learn how to speak correctly.

Thank you! I could not see it happening in a million years If it can be interpreted as a "possible" situation I take that as a great compliment.
(I wonder if Ranma can learn to speak correctly. It might be genetic )

Thank you. Actually, I have several story ideas, but no sense of humor whatsoever. If I try a joke the whole room will face-palm. English is not my first language either so there will be mistakes in each and every sentence.
But I am very flattered Thank you.

Too bad for Ranma that he can't actually say that he likes it, maybe if they were in private he might be a bit more honest and direct with his words. Nice outfit for Akane, it does fit her personality.

Thank you. I know that parts of this outfit goes quite against Akane's style, but I hoped that it would be notably inspired at least by the many cute clothes we have seen her wear.
I would have liked to see Ranma give it a shot in private.
Thank you once again.

I doubt even in private he wouldn't be able to say it. Instead it would come out as inulting.

No problem, I know in my fanfic he would've been less scathing in public and talked on the same line as his thoughts here in private... but that's after a long road of events... if you ever get so inclined, check out my Ranma 1/2 fanfic.

So funny!
I love how you had to translate what Ranma actually ment! We all know though that Ranma has got it for Akane really bad!
Nice job keeping the comic like Rumiko Takahashi's style!

Thank you. I know what you mean by that we all know XD That was why my initial idea was to translate what he said to typical shojo-clichΓ©-talk instead. I tuned it down a bit though.
Thank you for your kind words!

Roses077 [2010-06-11 00:47:31 +0000 UTC]
XD it looks like the original style! Except in a few panels, but the comic is awesome!!! (even if I don't like the pair XD)
π: 0 β©: 1
Spelarminlind In reply to Roses077 [2010-06-11 08:37:42 +0000 UTC]
It's my biggest disappointment that I could not make the style more similar (glares at every single panel except for no 3). Then again, I was not making too much of an effort as I am quite influenced by Takahashi already (that sounds like an excuse ). Even worse is that I could not keep my own style in check.
If someone who does not support the pairing likes the comic, then I consider that a great compliment
Thank you very much.

I do like to give more contructive comments--but not really critiques, since even as advice, they tend to be offensive sometimes XD but I'd like a critique any day

Oh, yes, it is always nice to come across someone who takes the time to add some helpful advice as it can save us from realizing mistakes later than is necessary.
I appreciated your comment very much.

It's true
but since the fav function, comments come across less, but I like a little one-word compliment on my devs as well
though, you're right, I think critiques show more care for the artist by giving in advice.
Most of the time, I have to look out for myself because nobody but ~kimado-sensei gives me any critique...
And your welcome. I always tend to comment on whatever comes into my inbox, if it's good enough
I watch a lot of clubs, and one of them the Ranma1/2 club, even if it came out before I was born XD

Spelarminlind In reply to Roses077 [2010-06-17 22:45:54 +0000 UTC]
That is nice that you have someone who is dedicated and takes the time to look at your art and your progress. I am afraid that I can be a bit touchy at times, but I still want to encourage constructive criticism (much for the reason you mentioned) and I generally like and support it. It is important to learn that it is not called "constructive" criticism for nothing.
I am childishly fond of one-word compliments too It's a great compliment that people take the time to comment at all. Especially so when considering what you brought up about the decrease after the fav function.
Well, thank you for the nice conversation (and once again thank you for your kind words from before). I must say that I am quite impressed that you take the time to comment on (most of ) the drawings that drop into your inbox.

I know, I'm also lucky that she's a super-awesome real life friend as well
I'm not afraid of being touchy, I'll suck it up, take things like a man and keep trying out stuff 'till I come up with something perfect
that's what constuctive critisism is, but, what I think you mean about getting touchy, might not be a critique but a flame that you'd feel that way over
I really do love 'em one-word comments, they can sure lighten up my day
Yeah, I do like giving in comments a lot, but receiving it is just as fun.
Though, I mostly do give one-word comments if I'm fully-loaded with 30 deviations to comment on XD
π: 0 β©: 1
Spelarminlind In reply to Roses077 [2010-06-19 19:28:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, seeing as one-word comment can really brighten one's day I do not think that anyone would mind you writing a few of those. I am still quite amazed (30 deviations, just hearing that makes me feel faint) I only comment before I fav or if I am in a terrific mood, which is sadly not too often
Seeing as comments are so nice to receive, you are really doing a nice thing that more should take after.
And I just keep getting impressed. I wish I could suck it up like a man when I receive criticism, but I was serious when I said that I was touchy. I can twist praise around to an insult and sulk in a corner for a whole day before I can start to see the comment for what it is, and that it is a good rather than a bad thing.

Oh, snap, I said; "...I'll take it like a man." again. I keep forgetting that I'm NOT A GUY! XD
Though, I hate to know that some people actually hate critique and call them flames, instead of taking advice (that's going on a lot)
I checked my inbox today and there was about 60+ deviations, I deleted about ten to twenty and made comments on the rest.... I'm thinking of temporarily unwatching club deviations until tuesday because of an exam, or stop logging on until tuesday...(exams)
I honestly never get critique asides from this one friend(as I said before)
but when she came over, she saw plenty of my old drawings, and started saying stuff about it, I told her to ignore them cause they were old and I improved so much since the past few months.
I've only been drawing for a year, and I don't think I'm half bad for my age
