Karaz growled at the female who had just spoken. Had she dared to challenge his position? No other youngling in the town would dare to challenge him, not just from his status but also because of his father and inheritance. But this female... the orphan who had come into town just a few days ago stood there and questioned why his decisions were to be obeyed? She had even dared to question his heritage!
Had she not been so pretty he would have dismissed her and just made sure that the other younglings understood she wasn't to join them... But there was something about the orphaned female that had him unwilling to send him away. In fact, he wanted to make sure she understood that he was the leader here and that she should follow his lead.
“I make the rules here…” he began, but the female chuckled. He was taken aback for a moment before
"...and just why would I follow your lead? I mean… you're... so…” she seemed to search for words for a moment before grinning and making a gesture with her thumb and index finger. “…small...".
Karaz desperately wanted to bite back but the larger female was almost looming over him now as she had moved closer while speaking. The giggles from the other younglings also made it clear that he would have to work to get his status back…
