There's much more to any character than we may realize. Starlight is no exception to this rule.
So she didn't start out being a hero. That's fine.
She showed that she regretted what she had done, and even went so far as to admit she still had flaws that needed to be worked on.
If there are those who dislike her, Sunset, or any other character, that's fine. Just don't go overboard in expressing why you hate the character(s) in question.
Having said that... I really do like how Starlight's changed, from when she was first introduced. Very good, I think.

This piece here really draws out my true feelings for Starry. I feel bad for her, that a lot of people still harbor resentment for her, even after she was reformed, basically calling her a Twilight clone or a Mary Sue OC that got her way onto the show somehow. Seeing her like this, I just wanna snuggle with her, let her know that she is truly loved, that she's not worthless, and perhaps give her some more validation. Especially after her reformation, she's easily become my favorite pone, one who I have nothing but love and adoration for, a story I can truly connect to on a personal level.

when she was first introduced in the show, i didn't like her one bit. not because she used to be a villain, but because she was a BAD villain, with a terrible backstory, lame-ass excuse on why she was evil and a completely half-assed redemption (or reformation, however you wanna call it). but ever since she turned good, she's really grown on me, and it's obvious how much she's changed over the past 2 seasons. if she kept on being the same horrible character she was back in Season 5, i'd get all the hate.... but i really don't get it now. Starlight's way better than what she used to be and how all those people make her out to be, and she definitely deserves a lot more love and appreciation from the fans.
