Ok, now I know I was supposed to but up two other pieces today, but clearly I got distracted. I've wanted to do an avatar piece for a while now. I started doodling at work yesterday which ended up being the ground work for this piece, little did I know that I would grow to hate it.There are aspects of this piece that I like, but basically...
I see it as one big FAIL.
Anyway.

One that is more acurate.
The problem is that I'm always trying not to do the generic fan art.
i.e. do it in the same style etc.

As a piece of art, it's fine. As a picture of Aang, I am forced to agree with you.
The upper arm looks bony, the fist looks like it belongs on Superman, not Aang. The head is too long for a 12 year old kid, and the bulging eyebrows make him look older and buff. Also, the lip is just not Aang-like. Finally, the eyes look odd in general.

It's probably totally savable though, if you were to make a few modifications.

Probably, but in a situation like this, I find it better just to start from scratch.
