Description
Doing a new series based on birthstones! Poem that will be at the bottom of the illustrations was written by an anonymous writer for Tiffany Co. in the 1870s. The poem uses the traditional gemstones rather than the modern ones so some maybe different. I will incorporate the stone somewhere in each girl's outfit.Pocahontas is a courageous girl loyal to her friends and beliefs, so I thought the garnet portrayed her well.

hmm... oddly enough, i would have thought that she would have been december since turquoise is often associated with native americans. although whatevs.

I am a huge fan of your artwork but to be honest this picture confuses me. Pocahontas did not have a ton of personality in this movie, but the little she did have come through in the way she carried herself in her strong, powerful stances, unwavering gaze and lifted chin. Even in only a screenshot of her standing, it was clear she was a woman of courage and conviction. I don't really see any of these traits in this picture and I feel like she has been reduced to a generic "girly girl" pinup. Which leads me to wonder, why bother using Pocahontas for this at all if you weren't going to embody anything that she was in your art?

Love your work as well. Sorry if the pose didn't seem to capture her personality, I see what you mean. I wanted the aspects to the poem to reflect her character. My style is cute and girly, I want these pics to be more pinup-like. I appreciate your feedback though!

So now I wonder who will represent August and the stone onyx.
