Description
In this version, Mantis is the daughter of Ego the Living Planet and sister to The Legendary Outlaw, Star-Lord (Peter Quill). Mantis's mother died after giving birth to her and Ego decided to bring her his planet, and raise her instead. When she was younger, she started to developed her powers and Ego was shocked, hoping that she would carry his powers, but, she ended up getting her mother's power instead. Ego didn't care and decided to use her powers to his advantage and uses her powers to help him sleep, since he was having bad insomnia after what he did to Meredith and he was missing his son. Mantis knew what his plan was and decided to stay with him because, she had no place to go and she saw love in his heart. When Ego and Mantis saw the Guardians for the first time, she saw Ego crying happy tears that he finally found his son, and she was happy to see him happy. When they met up with the Guardians, she announced Ego's name and he thanks her for it. He sits with the Guardians at a campfire where their crashed ship was, and she was told by Drax the Destroyer that she was ugly, and she thought that was really nice of him to tell her that.

The next morning, Ego and Mantis took: Star Lord, Gamora and Drax with them to Ego's Planet, while Nebula, Rocket and Baby Groot were trying to work on the ship. She used her sleep powers on Ego again to help him fall asleep, and she explains her powers to the Guardians. Her powers are that she is an Empath, a being that can sense and experience a person's emotions and feelings through mere touch, making her antennas light-up. She can make someone fall asleep, like she does to Ego, and she can also do Emotion Manipulation. That is where she can be able to manipulate emotions to some degree using her touch essentially mind controlling someone. For example, she can make a sad person happy, or calm down an angry one.

Mantis knew that they were in trouble, but, knew it was best to not bring it up, to scare away her newly found brother and to make her father upset again. She had used to ability to find out that ugly is not what she was thinking and was upset. She had another power that she didn't tell anyone. She had an ability called, Memory Erasure. That is where she has the ability to erase people's memories with physical contact. She decides to use this on Drax, and tells him why they picked them up and erased the conversation from his mind.

However, she was pinned to the wall by Gamora and Nebula, who just arrived and told them what all of the skulls from a cave are all from. Mantis uses her Empath powers on Gamora to make her sacred and to make Nebula act like a chicken. As she was running, Mantis was clotheslined by Drax's arm, after he saw what happened, and asks her what is going on. She undoes the chicken thing to Nebula and she explains the truth. She tries to erase their minds, but Nebula conks her on the head and she is told that it is wrong and they need to save Quill. As they all get to the throne room, Peter found out about Ego's plan and they all try to stop Ego, but Mantis uses her sleep touch on him, but she is knocked out. She is recused by Drax and they escaped, and when she saw that they were leaving Ego, Ego tells her that she is free to leave and that he loves her. She cries out, "Daddy" out of sadness, that she is leaving him behind. That is when Peter found out that Mantis is his sister and hugs her. Mantis was welcomed on the team and gets into hijinks, but she is a very useful member on the team.

In Avengers: Infinite, during the fight against Thanos on Titan, she uses her abilities to subdue Thanos and she reveals that he threw Gamora off a cliff for the soul stone and Thanos confesses that he should be punched for it and Star Lord was punching him, until Nebula shouted that the gauntlet was almost off, which caused Thanos to awake and throw Mantis off of him and knock the wind out of her. After Thanos got all of the stones, she was sadly dusted. When The Hulk snapped his fingers, she returned and was part of the Final Fight. After Thanos was permanently dusted, she was still a Guardian of the Galaxy and she got to learn of Earth and loved every minute of it.

Mantis is modelled after her MCU version and PS4/PS5 version, since i really do like her in that game. Her design is MCU style, but she has a mantis style skirt with no front and she has mantis style facial designs on her face based on her comic look and old concept art.
