Description
James "Rhodey" Rhodes was a friend of Tony Stark and the liaison between Stark Industries and the United States Air Force in the department of acquisitions, specifically weapons development. He holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force and acts as the military's chief liaison to Stark Industries' weapons division, and is initially oblivious to Obadiah Stane's actions. However, when he feels that Tony doesn't deserve to be treated like a king because, Rhodey was a strict rule follower, but he had to do what Tony or Obadiah asks him to do. When he heard about Tony being captured and saw that he escaped, he was happy to see his friend once again and was horrified when he saw the arc reactor in his chest. After they get back to the USA, Tony stopped to get some Burgers, which Rhodey was fine because, he would want to be with Tony again after that happened. And when Tony revealed that Stark Industries will no longer make weapons, he was upset that he would lose his position at Stark Industries, but Tony told him that he would be fine.

One day, after teaching some recruits on how to fly, he gets called in to a check on the radar because, they have spotted an armoured man flying in Afghanistan, and Rhodey puts two and two together, and realizes that Tony is the flying armoured man. He gets to Tony's place and tells him that he is going to pay for his actions and left. When he heard that Stane had attempted to kill Tony, he rushes over their and is able to find Tony, but he finds him suiting up, which of course, impresses Rhodey. The next day, he appears at a press conference, where Tony reveals himself to be Iron Man, which threw Rhodey off guard.

6 months later, Rhodey had been working at Congress to make sure that Tony was responsible and that the government doesn't need that armour for their tech. However, when he arrives to Tony's place, he sees that Tony is blasting through the house because, he didn't see Ghost was inside and thought that Tony was drunk inside the suit, blowing stuff up. He decided to go downstairs in his lab and puts on a silver version of the suit and tries to stop Tony. He was pissed at Tony and tells him that he deserves to have the suit, since Tony is not responsible for it, but when Tony tried to defend himself, Ghost threw stuff at Rhodey and Rhodey started blasting at Tony and tried to kill him. Ghost finally appears at him and she calls him "War Machine" for supporting the government and Tony. But, Rhodey blasted her and had her to be sent to The Raft. Tony was left sore, but Rhodey didn't care and took blueprints of the suit and Stane's Iron Monger suit to the government to make their own version, for the future. Tony did apologize to Rhodey and made him his own suit which he enjoys. Rhodey says that he will be by his aid if he wants to continue being Iron Man.

In Avengers, Rhodey was called in to take down some Ten Rings terrorists while Tony was with the Avengers. In Iron Man: Extremis Power, he was called in to save Tony and help him out with fighting Killian and Gunsmith. Just as Rhodey left after the explosion killed Killian and Gunsmith, he left to report on what happened. In Avengers: Heavy Metal, he was finally an official Full-Time Avenger and got to help out in the fight.

The remaining story of him will be with Iron Patriot and American Machine. The suit itself works very well as classic comic and MCU. It is simple, but still stays true to War Machine's design.
