Description
It was the part of the work in progress for my Spider-Man Thursday 20 piece by on the colors! He used a terrific technique here, to simulate a more realistic take on Spidey's costume, much more like the texture of Spider-Man the movie costume!! I gotta admit that even if I loved the colors and technique, I wasn't too fond of the result for the whole piece, I mean with all the other characters! It would have put a real gap between them and Spidey!!!
I wanted to share that piece with you though, so you can admire why I feel that my friend Soul is one of the best artists in DA!
I hope you will love it as much as me, and visit Soul's gallery hete and give him some well deserved DA love!!!
Have fun, gang and take care

The red is a bit too dark for me and the shinning web on his costume a little bit too much for me.
But the rest is AWESOME!!!
you rock Maaaaaaaaaaan!!!

Awesome Work! the pose & foreshortening are as amazing as ever!
It's a great collaboration piece. Overall the colors are very cool but i think they're just a bit too shiny. maybe if only the red or, better yet, only the blue was shiny it would be a bit better...
But on the whole Great Work as usual!

I agree. Very well rendered!
Did you know the only reason spidey's costume has the blue is because the black &red coloring Stan lee originally wanted didn't allow enough detail in printing. I read that in an interview somewhere...

It's cool there's blue in it finally! lol

I love the drawing, I love the colors... not sure I like them together on this one drawing.
I would love to see these colors on another character you have drawn, Spiderguile... um, there are other characters besides Spiderman right? (kidding) I really like your take on Spiderman, and you make me look forward to Thursdays because of it.
I guess what I am getting at, is that even in the movie, Spiderman does not look like he was dipped in a tub of baby oil. This effect is a bit too glossy and jewel-like for my tastes --Spiderman has more of a matte finish to his costume... at least the one I see in my head when I think Spiderman. I'm all for unique interpretations to familiar characters, but maybe this color treatment would work better on Cyclops, or Blackbolt, etc.
Still a super cool pic, and super cool colors-- for fun, but if for publication-- I would suggest taking another pass at it, so the light does not reflect nearly as much.

I totally agree with you, Franchesco!!!
That's what I said to Soul when he submitted it, and after a quick discussion on how I see Spidey in a more mattish costume rendering, he changed it in another more conventional treatment that you can see in his Spider-Man Thursday 20 color version, here!!!
Thanks for taking time to review my work nad for liking it a bit!

It's remarkable how realistic that looks, it really does feel like the fabric from the movies. Amazing work on the part of both artists!

That's what Soul wanted to achieve here!!! I love it but didn't want to have that kind of fabric feel for my piece though!

Oh totally understandable considering the style used for the rest of the team. Granted, imagine what it would look like if ALL of them were done in that heavily rendered style? That'd make such an incredibly epic piece on top of how awesome it already is.
Either way though, I love your work. Keep it up good sir!

Looks cool, the red is a bit dark, but make it somewhat muted a bit with a hint of brightness and it should fix that issue. Looks great though.
