Here's the first in a series of "What if's I have planned to draw on my spare time. This one is fairly dark-toned, but the next one I have planned is a very "different" tone all together!"What if the Hero didn't manage to save the Kingdom of Hyrule? What if he lost his life while fighting Ganondorf, and the only thing which could potentially turn back the hands of time, was destroyed? What if the Princess (now masquerading as Sheik), had to fill Link's shoes, and take back her kingdom from the hands of the tyrant, Ganondorf? I think It'd make for a very interesting tale! Here's how I think the tale would start...

that would be a really drastic twist. but then sheik would have to "take" the courage triforce away from link. really interesting. i dunno why, but i imagined the game would be a little darker, like zelda would have to let go of her feminine side and toughen up to fill link's shoes.

Yeah, I'm sure that'd be a bit darker than most Zelda games, but I think it'd give the game quite an edge! I mean, most of the franchise's memorable moments, stem from adding some twisted elements and tidbits to the otherwise archetypical plotline!

not necessarily. If Link dies, and Sheik is truly an alter ego of Zelda, not just her in disguise, then it could just be reborn in Sheik.

That could be quite the interesting game.
A sequel to an alternate ending, or a zelda game where Link dies early on, and you'd continue as Sheik/someone else in Links place.

I agree...Would be interesting to see Nintendo make a slight change to the general formula! I'd like to see how a full game of that sort, would pan out!

Ya, my friend Keiran and I want to start a petition for a game where Link is kidnapped by Ganon and you have to play as Zelda to get him back. I think it's an awesoiem idea, Nintendo should so do it

Not sure if a petition would work, in that situation. If they said yes, then you would already know what was going to happen, and Nintendo would probably rather keep out the plot details, prior to the game coming out (since it's one of their more story-centric franchises)! For example, take their upcoming Zelda game, Skyward Sword. The first trailer was shown not in this year, but last year's e3. How much do we actually know about the game so far? Link comes from a place in the sky, and must come to the land below, where it's full of evil creatures that started to appear...that's pretty much all we know! Sure there's some gameplay videos, but no plot-related stuff!
So I'm not saying that a petition would, or wouldn't work...Just that you wouldn't even know if it worked, until after the game came out! But if you believe strongly in it, then you should petition. It's always a good thing to have people get vocal about what they believe in!

If it was well done, it could be a huge success.
Not like he'd have to die, being trapped by a spell or something that some other character would have to spend a long time breaking could work.
A bit like the atelier rorona games (if I spelled that right.). In quite the few games you find a fragile shopkeeper at the dungeon before the final boss, and this shopkeeper will have all the highest goods from earlier in the game.
The game is about the shopkeeper.

I never understood why it was called "Legend of Zelda"... in Phantom Hourglass there was no Zelda... And in which games do Ganondork appear?

Yeah, see there are two types of dead. comepletely dead and mostly dead. a fairy only helps if they're mostly dead. but ehre, Link's comepletely dead, when they're completely dead there's only one thing you can do.
