Description
If I could "just get over" my anxiety or bipolar disorder, don't you think I would have already? They're not doing me any favors. I've had people tell me that I just need to 'get over' my anxiety and Avoidant PD and start dealing with people.Yeah, cool, I'll do that. Except for the whole dehabilitating panic attacks thing and ensuing panic attacks when returning to the situations that caused the first one...
Don't tell people to "get over it" if they have a mental illness. It doesn't work like that.
Should you let it rule your life and use it as an excuse for everything? No. But can you just "get over it" and start living problem-free? Not really.
Besides, do you really think you're the first person who came up with the idea of asking someone to "just get over it"?

This is so true.
My family would often tell me to "get over it" when I have panic attacks that bring me into a psychosis. I was Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder after my first time in a mental hospital. From then on, I had to see Psychiatrist after Psychiatrist after Psychiatrist. Because I was desperate to get the diagnoses "lifted". Yes, I was in denial about it for the longest time. Because of all its bad reputation and the fact that I didn't think I had anything wrong with me.
Anyway, after all these years I finally see something is wrong. My anxiety and depression has gotten worse. Psych meds never helped either. Yet my family insists there is "no such thing as depression" only "laziness". They also refuse to believe my Autistic sister has anything wrong with her. Oh sure, ignore what the doctors say. Ignore the fact that she is mentally behind. Ignore her conversations with herself and preservation on inanimate objects. Oh sure, she's completely a-ok. It's really a lack of education.

How self-Important.
You don't think it's offensive that you're telling everyone else that your problem is worse then theirs, just because theirs may not be an impulse control disorder like yours?! Congratulations, princess, you have a problem too. Don't treat anxiety disorders like they're something unimportant or easy to get over just because you don't have one.
Do you KNOW what it feels like, when you're shaking like a leaf, having a panic attack, Scared to even TALK to people? When your chest feels like it's going to explode, because you can't slow your heartbeat? Do you know how painful that even is? When you ruin all of the relationships with anyone, because you can't control your anger, and you spend the rest of your day picking yourself apart because you can see every mistake you've ever made right in front of you?
And just a by the way this stamp applies to YOUR problem too. Would you be happy if someone just told you to 'stop being a pyromaniac'?

awww princes, how sweet. do u have an axiaty disorder. if u dont, that comment about what it feels like was pretty pointless wasnt it. if u do, congratulations. also, i HAVE been told to get over pyromania. do u even know what that is? and yes, i am a selfish bitch incase your wondering. And that mean I DONT CARE THAT YOU SAY I BELIEVE MY PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN THEIRS! YOU KNOW WHY I THINK THAT? BECAUSE ITS TRUE!

just because you have a harsh dissorder like that doesn't mean you need to put down other because they don't have the same. I feel for you because I have a friend who is a pyromaniac and it's scary. I also can see the other side because I have depression and anxiety problems too. But I don't sit their in a pity party and cry poor me, I look into what my dissorder's are and try and change the things I can. When faced with things like this though it doesn't help when people say get over it or why cant you be like this person and just be normal. that's not how are brains work. We have different wiring than others and think a different way. But again putting down other dissorder's does not help you nor does it help anyone else. So why do it? Pyromania is a difficult one, its scary and can be dangerous. At the same time a panic attack can induce a heart attack if it gets bad. So you see their are ups and downs to all phobias and dissorder's. nobody is more or less important than anyone else. It's better to have sympathy than malice.

Are you an idiot?
There are thousands, millions more people with the SAME and MUCH WORSE problems than yourself. I know it isn't easy having ANY disorder, but get off your self-important high horse and start opening your mind. Mental illness or not.
Oh, btw, I have schizophrenia and ocd, so I know what it's like. And I am 15, so I know that it isn't fucking easy.
And also, just because you suffer from mental illness, it doesn't give you the right to be a DICK.

Excuse me? I'm seeing a therapist, counsellor, multiple doctors, mental health facilities, and an early intervention for psychosis team. I was almost committed to a hospital. All of these people believe I have schizophrenia/psychosis, I don't wear it like a fucking badge. But I'm not afraid to tell it to people I don't know, to encourage them and to put some BS stigma to rest.
Lol, not all schizophrenics are useful sponges who sit in corners and can't form a sentence and are completely out of touch.
You have no idea about anyone's lives on the internet, so don't even try and tell me about my own life. I don't even know you? lol, Pathetic.
Obviously you don't know anything about schizophrenia. I don't even know you, where did you get your psychology degree?

"I don't wear it like a fucking badge" Obviously you must be proud if you are talking about it here... WHERE NOBODY CARES. How about leaving your personal 'problems' of the internet? And really, I don't think you would even be here if you were. Besides, I doubt anything REALLY bad has ever happened in your life.
π: 0 β©: 2
Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 08:07:51 +0000 UTC]
Oh and if "nobody cares" then why have all of these stamps been made? And more importantly why are you looking at them?
If you want to play the "my life is harder than yours" card then go ahead. If you're such an expert on mental disorders (which I doubt), then tell me about sz. If you knew anything you'd know there are five different types. And not all of them are as serious as each other.
I was never even directing my comment to you, i was talking to the user with pyromania. Right, I might have come across as a little harsh, but I was angry.
Tbh your vision of sz is twisted, not everyone with it is stupid who can't do basic tasks. You can study psychology and still have mental disorders. You're thinking about disorganised schizophrenia. There are others who have commented with sz on here why don't you go flame them too?
Proud of it. I am not proud of these. If I was proud, it wouldn't have caused depression. Tbh I wish I could be unashamed of it but people like you keep the stigma alive and shame all of us.
Anyway, I don't have to explain myself to a kid over the Internet. You need to troll harder.

Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 21:00:48 +0000 UTC]
Uh I never said my life is hard. Won't you just be fucking glad you live in this generation? That you have a place to live? I know schizophrenia can't be controlled, but you really need to stop whining about it and focus more on fixing it, That is, if you even have it.
... And depression? LOL
π: 0 β©: 1
Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 21:09:50 +0000 UTC]
My life is perfect, I have great parents, a roof over my head, food. Millions of people have it worse. I was just talking about my issues, and I wasn't whining. I know it's not the best idea to talk about it to strangers over the Internet, I don't even know why I did. Tbh you seem to have a grudge against everything that moves. What kind of sick person pretends they have an illness? (ironically)
And I see you find depression amusing. How so?

Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 21:14:31 +0000 UTC]

Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 21:38:00 +0000 UTC]

I've seen at least four. On this stamp and on another.
Lol, I'm just feeding the troll. But ok, I'll give you your fuel. The psychosis-
- I have hallucinations
- I have paranoia
- I have disorganised/racing speech
- I am social withdrawn
- I am anti-social
- I have inappropriate emotions
- I have delusions
- Have extreme troubles in motivation
- concentrating and focus and short term memory problems
What my dr told me.

Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 21:52:33 +0000 UTC]
Paranoia doesn't mean you're paranoid about every single thing on the planet. I don't even know when I am being paranoid/having delusions.
I have had serious delusions about the Internet, but as I said I'm not paranoid about every single thing.
I agree about the emotion thing, but it's still in the diagnostic material. :/
You're not the troll? Says the one going around to random people telling them they're fakers.

Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 21:53:47 +0000 UTC]

Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 21:58:32 +0000 UTC]
So stop replying, and maybe think twice next time before you start pointless arguments over the Internet with random people you know nothing about. And what did you say in the other reply? "serious? More like fake" to someone ELSE.
And again, I know I am not faking, and never would. I don't need to prove myself to you. It's not like I would get my doctor to write to you telling you about my diagnoses?
You seem to have an anger issue.
π: 0 β©: 1
Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 22:00:35 +0000 UTC]

Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 22:04:02 +0000 UTC]
You can't even back up your own argument. I am not pretending, and you know that.
I'm not the only one you've replied to about this. Why can't you realise that some people have problems in their lives?
Or are you just some little kid trying to start drama?
π: 0 β©: 1
Juliahaha In reply to Bizarre-Fox [2012-02-24 22:08:34 +0000 UTC]

Bizarre-Fox In reply to Juliahaha [2012-02-24 22:12:20 +0000 UTC]
You actually started this argument by replying to me. So, you fail.
Over exaggerate, if so, then I didn't mean to. But I would NEVER fake an illness, especially a mental one. I would give up my problems in a second.
