Description another of my favorite models

it's a forgeworld resin model and despite the more expensive material and better detail, it was cheaper than games workshop's metal one

I have a Thousand Sons Forgeworld dreadnought waiting to be painted and put together...

Can't wait. Love your stuff, man.

I look forward to seeing it.

Tip: Paint the yellow first, Yellow does not go on top of blue, but blue goes on top of yellow.

Yar.

Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter with AP3 shots and a missile launcher - though I want a CC arm. I think the friend who got it for me did it to me on purpose, not giving me CC capabilities.

The forge world arms are like £6.00 a peice, even with your yankie Dollars you should be able to afford it.

I was planning to do a Venerable dread for my fists, with a plasma cannon and CC weapon, but I never got round to it.

I couldn't decide whether to use the seige drill and count it as a cc weapon, or the grey knights dreadnought sword-type-thing.

I think the Dreadnought CC arm is one of my faves.

But it has all that girly script on it. I want something manly to go with my manly marines in canary-yellow.

Meh, it makes them look like crusading warriors, like 12th century knights. I don't think of space marines as holy-soldiers.

Which may sound weird coming from a former Black Templars player.

Well, that's what their supposed to be reminiscent of, I thought, at least the Grey Knights - I mean, they're the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Malleus of the Inquisition - and regular Space Marines go into battle led by Chaplains as the like, spouting litanies of faith and fiery hatred to everything that does not worship their Immortal God-Emperor.

Spineyguy In reply to Vernul [2009-07-18 19:22:28 +0000 UTC]

The Emperor is not a God and everyone knows it, but cardinals want to make money so they exploit the ignorance of the unwashed masses and say 'Give us ur munnies and Emperor make Orkses go away.'

Space marine chaplains are pretty much left to their own devices regarding religious teaching, so who knows what they say.

Vernul In reply to Spineyguy [2009-07-18 23:15:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, considering they have a rule called "Litanies of Hate" I think we can all imagine.

And yarr, he's not a God, but he's damn close in terms of what he actually is - collective conscious incarnation of a bunch of human shamans from way back in the fuckwhere.

And lol@theImperialcult. XD

I have read all the Horus Heresy books but I can't for the life of me remember who started the whole 'Eperor are teh bestest God evar!' thing.

If the emperor could be resurrected and see what the Imperium has become he'd probably have a heart attack and die again

Originally, I thought it was Lorgar? The Lectivio Divinatus.

Who knows, man? Let's hope the Star Child is born sooner rather than later.

It's bound to happen soon, the Golden throne is broken and the Imperium is ailing. Who knows, they might do it as a campain or something.

Probably just a few chapters. Led from the front by Dorn and the others. A titan legion maybe, and more regiments of guardsmen than you can shake a lasgun at.

I do not fear Lasguns!

I send Plague Marines at IG players infantry platoons just to watch them cry.

Spineyguy In reply to Vernul [2009-07-22 07:59:25 +0000 UTC]

Never underestimate lasguns, if fielded in big enough numbers they can overwhelm most foes. And for those of high toughness like those blasted plague boys for yours, we have missile launchers.

Vernul In reply to Spineyguy [2009-07-22 17:45:34 +0000 UTC]

Unless you're launching Krak missiles, I have an armor save and feel no pain, and if you ARE launching Krak missiles, well - one missile can only do do much. xD

In the end, I do not underestimate any army, unless I know the person I'm fighting is a wet noodle with no grasp of sound tactics.

Btw, just ordered Terminator conversion kits off Forgeworld for Death Guard and World Eaters. I can't wait.

WS 5 Furious Charge Terminators and T5 FNP Terminators here I come! Teehee!

Now if only I had more than one Land Raider.

Spineyguy In reply to Vernul [2009-07-22 19:24:54 +0000 UTC]

Y'see, this is why I form my army into 10 man, 1 tank units. Whatever the tank can't handle (like hordes) the infantry can mow down, whatever proves too tough for the infantry, the tank can blow up. It's a fun moment when an enemy kills half your guardsmen, only to have a fulle operational leman russ trundle out from behind a building. I love city fights.

Vernul In reply to Spineyguy [2009-07-22 21:37:25 +0000 UTC]

xD I love'em, too. I love Apocalypse, more. Can you imagine an Apocalyptic Cityfight Planetstrike game?

"Okay, in this rulebook, it says I do this...lemme check for other rules...kay...oh, wait, can't forget this rulebook...but it says it can always assault when deep striking in THIS rule book...and...and...AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

If you had a good Game Master it could be amazing.
Can you imagine fighting a Chaos Daemon army in an apocalyptic planet strike? Since, by Planet Strike rules, everything that can normally deep strike can assault on the turn they arrive...and everything in a Daemon army Deep Strikes.

Soul Grinders, Blood Thirsters, Keepers of Secrets, Bloodletters (fuck that), Fiends (fuck that). Oh my GOD.

Emperor preserve us.

Spineyguy In reply to Vernul [2009-07-23 09:43:13 +0000 UTC]

But trying to deep strike in a city is more than a little risky. I should know, a freind of mine tried to deep strike all his Chaos Marines onto a cityfight board using drop pods. He ended up losing half of his army to dangerous terrain and mishaps.

"I know, I'll deep strike Abbaddon the Despoiler behind your basilisks, that'll work. *Rolls dice*

Oh noes, he's scattered off the table, that's 300 points out of my 2000 point army down the drain. Oh well, I'll deep strike his Terminator body guards in exactly the same spot. *Rolls another dice*

Oh noes, exactly the same thing has happened to them. That's a quarter of my army gone. Oh well, I'll deep strike my raptors in exactly the same place... This went on for the raptors and another unit of Marines until he gave up and actually tried to shoot something.

Vernul In reply to Spineyguy [2009-07-23 18:42:27 +0000 UTC]

LOL

Dude, losing Abaddon always sucks.

Also, yeah, that's true about it being risky, but I tend to have good luck with Deep Strikes.

Like, one time, my friend had FIFTEEN Tactical Marines with Bolters holed up in this building at the end of the map, and I Deep-Strikes Five Terminators with the Mark of Khorne behind them. Thirty Bolt Shots, 25-ish hit, 15-ish wounds - and 15 armor saves. Then I charged and the lead Terminator got pistol whipped like a bitch. >

Vernul In reply to Spineyguy [2009-07-23 22:18:27 +0000 UTC]

xD

lol!

This is why I never Deep-Strike Abaddon. I give him a Four-Terminator body-guard and stick him in a Land Raider with Demonic Possession (if I'm not fighting Grey Knights) so it's immune to crew stunned and crew shaken.

And then I run it at people and drop the hammer of ownage. People have come to fear my Land Raider. I should post it...it's one of my almost fully painted pieces with the Black Legions battle cry on the door beneath the Eye of Horus.

"We Are Returned".

Spineyguy In reply to Vernul [2009-07-24 07:04:41 +0000 UTC]

Nasty.

The best I can come up with is Yarrick, joined by a 10 man Veteren squad with Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher and Veteren Sergeant with bolt pistol and power sword. Yarrick makes them stubborn and adds his considerable might to theirs. And I take order tests at Ld 10. Mount them in a chimera (they are Steel Legion after all) and back them up with a Leman Russ Executioner and anything with a 2+ save now has a bit of a headache. Yarrick and his squad can snaffle objectives while the tank hides behind a building to watch their backs.

Thank god for Black Legion paint-schemes - I can give his body guard a Mark of Tzeentch for that so that I would have some hope of living with a 4+ invulnerable save.
I'm also working on a conversion from the Chaos Heavy Flamer that comes with the Terminator kit to a multi-melta. >_>
