Description Starting my first figure custom. The toy at hand is the CollectA diplodocus. The original model wins in a bipedal stance with the tail strongly curving upward and ending in a whip like flick and the neck slightly curving upwards.

While it is a very good model, it's far from perfect scientifically speaking. Not only baring a fair share of shrink wrapping on the body, it was also too busty. Boasting a girth more akin to a brachiosaur rather then a diplodocus. The overall neck is also too short and the head too small. The limbs on the big guy was also a bit too long.

I also wanted it in a different pose. Instead of it rearing back, I wanted it in a walking pose, showing off its graceful features and impressive length.

So I decided to do a complete overhaul on it. I soaked the neck and tail in boiling water in order to straighten them out. I also used a lighter to aid in the process.
I then sanded off the pultrusions  of the shoulder blades off the body, effectively fixing some of the shrink wrapping. I then cut off the hind limbs. The original stance of the figure were sprawled out. So I had to get rid of the excess plastic between the legs to angle it under the body. I also shorten/ re position the limbs and sanded the body in order to make it match diplodocus true proportions. Most of this was done to one side as if now, and soon the opposite end will follow suit.

Sounds like you need to invest in a heat gun. Also the plastic will likely reform to its original position after a while. You might want to keep them set for a few weeks to retain the position.

thanks for the suggestion. i do have an old soldering iron lying around somewhere. will make good use of it. i also do plan on cutting up and repositioning the tail really good for a permanent pose as well.
