big, badass, and just plane awesome, I'm ashamed at you people. drawing the new look for spinosaurus and deinocherius, while forgetting past shocking discoveries. I honestly haven't seen a new siats meekerorum depiction in months.(p.s. i'm joking)
anyway, as stated before, this is siats meekerorum. a large neovenatorid theropod dinosaur known from the Late Cretaceous. at this time, basal tyrannosaurs were rather small and insignificant compared to this monster. theres only one specimen. and it was only a juvenile, yet would of already measured over 9 meters in length. hypothetically speaking, adults could of hit 12 meters in length. at such size, it could of outcompeted the tyrannosaurs and possibly remained the ecosystems top predator, keeping tyrannosaurs from progressively becoming more diverse.

I must say that the theory that this animal was responsible for keeping T.rex small is a lie. Because the tyrannosaurus were already in the process of ascending their evolution when all the North American carcharodontosaurs were extinct or it was not a fast process, something was killing the American carcharodontosaurs, there is an extreme possibility that the ancestors of the t.rex were related to this mass extinction of carcharodontosaurs that was during the Cretaceous, before T. Rex appeared.

Is it all of Neovenatoridae that are considered Coelurosaurs or just Megaraptora?

as far as i'm aware, only those apart of magaraptora are being considered as coelurosaurs

Oh, how could they forget Siats? Since Spinosaurus and Deinocheirus were changing their appearance, maybe there should be the time for Siats to show up again

This is the best restoration of Siats I have seen so far;because of the anatomical accuracy and the pose.Great job.

Oh I remember this big guy
Was it now sure that these predators kept the Tyrannosaurs small or is it still a possible theory?

of course, we can't know for sure. but, it was only after siats sudden extinction that we started to see the huge explosion of tyrannosaur diversity.it was also one of the largest predators of North America, and was larger then any of the early tyrannosaurs by a major degree. so it is rather likely that siats and other predators like it was the cause of tyrannosaurs not taking up larger roles.

Ah okay, was he also the last big non-tyrannosaur or tyrannosaur-related theropod?

i can't say for sure as of now, but I doubt it. i do recall some rumers about undescribed spinosaurid teeth that would suggest that they would of also coexisted with tyrannosaurs. lets hope 2014 and 2015 will give us more findings

That's actually very interesting if you look at how adapted to a semi-aquatic lifestyle Spinosaurus was. Imagine how a spinosaurid from the end of the Cretaceous would've looked like.
