Description
Hey there Deviant Art, Dak here.
Well everyone guess what?! I made my very FIRST Model Hex!
I had made this certain pair of pictures months ago, and then one two days ago a thought occurred to me, "if Srgt. Shotup made the light-scaled armored Storm Jackal, then why don't I make the Dark Scaled version?"
'Cause lets face it people, clones suck ***. So I decided to hex the existing model, and viola now there is a variance of Storm Jackals <3 <3
I am very proud of myself, having never hexed a model in my life and finally being able to do it! Its so wonderful ^_^
So there you have it folks, there is now different storm Jackals.
Credit goes to Srgt. Shotup for the original Storm Jackal he ported, NinjaNub for being VERY VERY helpful and guiding me through how the I used worked, and DigitalEro for the "base model" of the jackal I had remembered. And I suppose a little for me since I made this Hexed Model; Bungie/343 gets credit for all things Halo.
Comment below, and have a good day.
P.S. Please don't ask me for a download mirror, I don;t wish to be rude, but this being my first "project, its my baby; I hope you all understand, sorry.

I used Skyrim shields and changed the material colors on the shields.

(why the **** would I say hexagon? I'm not git)
Hexing a model means you have a model that already exists, but you don't want to REPLACE the model.
Hexing allows you to grab that original model, and then make a separate "clone" or off-shoot of the existing model and it'll be separate.
For example: It'd be like me kidnapping you, extracting ALL your genetic material and DNA, and making a clone of you. Say lets pretend you're a black person. I make an off-shoot of you that looks EXACTLY like you, except he's asian. Kinda like that, minus the kidnapping.

Thank you, glad you like it.
The fact that the point of origin for the shields to generate from the gauntlet is there, all I have to do is attempt to make the shield itself, which is a tad difficult at the moment

Hmm try making them less see through and add turquoise like flowering pattern I don't know how to describe it but you know how the older versions of the shields have the spreading look like when you put water on paper and put a drop of watercolor and it spreads. Kinda like that it might be hard to do might not you never know unless you try I can't help though cause I don't know how I'm just the idea machine.

I cannot make a female sadly; to make a "female appearance" would require me to know how Model Rigging works. I sadly do not know that yet.
And for you and ALL you people out there, Kig-Yar DO NOT HAVING ****ING BOOBS. They looks VERY similar to males, except lacking the quills; they have callused plates instead, and of course the reproductive organ is different.
But no, I cannot do what you ask, sorry buddy; its out of my knowledge for now.

How do you hex? Like, what is required and if so, is it reaaally hard? Like, BLENDER hard???

It requires a hexer program (there are a few), then you have to mess with the mdl files a bit and rename stuff, and then just try a "trial and error" approach to see if the model will work or not in gmod.

(you have to locate the file you want to hex in the models folder, then rename what you want to use, then go to the re-locator, and rename the location so it will "fool" gmod int thinking its a separate model file. Then you'll have to edit whatever you wish to edit in photoshop, or whatever you use as an editor program, then rename the vtfs you edited similar to what the mdl file's new name is, as well as the vmt files)
