1 - What parts of your prompt were written well and easy to understand? Was there anything the writer of the prompt could improve on or include next time they create a prompt?
I thought this was a really creative and interesting prompt, and I tried to do it justice, although I admit that bugs and grotesquery are not my strong suits so he probably doesn't look as nasty as you wanted. There was plenty of detail given, and I liked the collage of inspiration images for the clothing which gave me an idea of what this guy should be wearing (though I changed a few details so as not to copy them directly). I also learned a lot about mosquitoes, which turned out to be a surprisingly educational and fascinating experience.
2 - Please explain how you interpreted the prompt to create your design. Which features did you use? Did you stick to the chosen palette or make changes to it? Does the design you created have any special abilities or quirks?
Figuring out how to hybridize a human and a mosquito together was certainly a challenge. I thought that the most distinctive parts of the mosquito (i.e. the "key features") are the hunched-over posture and single set of wings, plus the spindly limbs. This was one part of the prompt where I felt like a lot of freedom was given, so I went with my best judgment. I tried to give this guy extra limbs at first but it didn't look right, so instead I elongated his arms and changed them to look like a cross between human bones and the mosquito's exoskeleton legs. The mosquito thorax contains a lot of muscles necessary for flight; an addition which, while not particularly heavy, still weighs down on his back unnaturally and causes an uncomfortably-curved spine and sloped-forward shoulders typical of kyphosis . When his wings are spread you can see the halteres under them, but they fold up against the thorax when not in use. He's also got a bunch of those bristles around his eyes and sticking out of his thorax and arms. Although I contemplated adding a pair of antennae, it seemed a bit cliche and I didn't like how it looked so I scrapped that idea. Aside from that, I left him mostly human with a fairly normal face and regular pair of legs.
As for colors, I looked at a lot of photos of Asian tiger mosquitoes and they have dark feathery scales with white spots so when you see them up close they look a bit furry and I tried to replicate that look. I just followed the natural colors and tried to leave some contrast between his black jacket and thorax so he ended up looking a bit more gray-brown than black but you can change the colors if you want.
I came up with an explanation on how to make his clothing fit. He basically has to cut holes in the backs of all his shirts and jackets and then climb into them from the back and pull them over his arms. His zip-up hoodie and trenchcoat were altered in this manner. The sleeves were made for normal human arms so they're rather too short for him, but I imagine that his mosquito features are less sensitive to cold. The only kind of gloves he is physically capable of wearing are the fingerless variety.
Special abilities might include flight, and in spite of his gaunt frame, I'd imagine he has superhuman strength as well (though he might be clumsy). Only females suck blood, so this fellow probably just has a craving for sugary drinks.
As I worked on this, I had a playlist of my favorite Massive Attack albums playing.
