Exquisite detail my friend. Reminds me of John Mollo's art work for the Nostromo back in 77.

Or maybe you mean "Ron Cobb" . . .
[link]

Mollo was more of a Costume designer (Star Wars, etc.) .

Its cool to see a fellow artist doing it the old fashioned way like Cobb, Joe Johnston, Nilo Rodis Jamero, Ralph McQuarrie and Doug Chiang .

Haha . . .
You were in the ballpark No worries .
Corridors and Air-lock doors too!

Its a lost art nowadays to use markers and pencils.
It be a miracle if its utilized in the next Star Wars Films, I'm thinking of taking a crack at it again (I had an "in" when I met Producer Rick McCallum in Hollywood and he gave me Art Director "Doug Chiang's" personal Office number at "JAK Films", which was the Studio name for the Prequels ) and reaching ILM but soo many artists out there vying for the same jobs make it almost impossible these days.

Folks like "Spirekat" though keep our style going .

Excellent detail on this picture and nicely done perspective too! Good work.

Anyhow, the pic seems to be lacking a good size reference, I can't really spot anything that could be used to measure just how big the ship and the whole hangar bay is. There are of course some windows here and there, but not really a solid measure like a tiny little person doing something somewhere in the frame, or an airlock or a door that fits one person. It sort of takes out some of the effect of the apparent huge size of the craft. Obviously it is huge, but just how so is left sort of a mystery, which is a bit of a shame.

Thanks for making an interesting point. I suppose I could've added a glass covered walkway with people moving around in it. Maybe on another drawing.

SpireKat In reply to Kconcepts [2012-08-01 04:39:02 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I don't know how long it took exactly. I just took my time with it drawing a section at a time over several days. One to two hours per session perhaps.

yeah that's excellent. must've been fun to work on it over time [assuming it took quite a few sittings] - add details here and there. you got that great feeling of being in this enclosed station, but with an opening to the vastness of space- feels biiiig. and looking at the stars they look super great aswell - they really look distant.
