Description Ok, here's the instructions of a 3D origami Lugia that are maybe more...'readable'?

For those who don't know how to make a single triangular unit, here are the instructions: [link ]

Hi. I'm into 3D Origami as well. This is really awesome!! Do you know how many units you used. Thank you!

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.

I believe it was around 900 units for this specific one. If you ever seen my bigger one, it was about 1800.

hiΒ

it is possible for you to show more detail on how to connect the head and the neck together cause the instruction and picture was a bit confusing

Please and thank you .Β

Hi,

Sorry for the late response.Β I took some shots of the head here: [link ]

The best views are the left and right, but i took other angles such as the front and a diagonal view too to help a bit more.

I hope those pictures gives you a good understanding on how to proceed.

Regards,

I'm making this for Geometry class but i don't know how to make the neck round. ;-;

Spkmw In reply to SukiNeko-chan [2013-09-02 03:29:17 +0000 UTC]

Oooh, neat!

Did you start with making the body? If so, you just keep building up while decreasing the amnt of units you use per row just as shown in the instructions. It's one of the hardest part of the model.

Other than that, the neck is simply a cylinder.Β

Which part did you manage to get?

Do you know how to make the round penguin?
If you do, the body of lugia uses the same technique. The only difference is the amount of units used. At some places, some units will cover over 2 units to shrink the circumference to slowly get to a neck shape/size. If you follow the instructions by the unit, you should end up with the same amount of units in rows where you would decrease.
Rows 1-4 don't go around, they shape the leg and the start of the tail.
Hope this helps!

About 850 units. It's not much

so nice, I am going to make one , If not too hard to make

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spkmw In reply to shuohwa [2013-01-14 17:16:21 +0000 UTC]

I personally dont think it's hard.
Just need some patience and time with reasonable size of triangle units

The only obstacle in this kind of thing is having your model break appart because the units are loose or because ...you dropped it? So people might give up because of that.

Hope you'll succeed!

I'm so glad you went to the trouble of uploading this tutorial. I went ahead and did it with little difficulty. The diagram was easy to understand. The only problem I had was attaching the head because the way I glued it together, the flaps on the side didn't match up with the sides of the lower jaw. So I improvised = hot glue gun. Other than that, my Lugia came out beautifully and now resides within my room for bragging glory in the future. I also had no idea how to set it up on a stand, so I had to make my own. Your effort, time, and patience is much appreciated, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Spkmw In reply to Demonqueenkira [2012-12-07 20:57:44 +0000 UTC]

Cool! That is something you could brag about. It's not easy to make it even if instructions are given. Specially 3DO, diagrams are made so that it matches a specific size of unit. So being able to improvise is a good thing!

I made the tail like that so I could use it to make it stand
I was about to make another one where the tail goes outwards so that it can sit on my monitor.

Really happy that you liked it. Is there anything you expect to see?

I'm just starting so i have a question.... in head i'll need 13 lines( or something) of 1 triangle or is it the numbers confusing me???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spkmw In reply to 22LugiA22 [2012-10-15 02:03:47 +0000 UTC]

As the legend says: green numbers is the amount of triangles needed on that row, and the black numbers is the row #.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

22LugiA22 In reply to Spkmw [2012-10-15 07:06:54 +0000 UTC]

And how did you put together the rows?? with glue?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spkmw In reply to 22LugiA22 [2012-10-17 02:02:26 +0000 UTC]

You shouldn't need any glue unless your units are small or you will be moving/touching the model quite often.
If you mean assemble, then look at the triangle on the bottom, you should see a gap. That's where you will put other triangles.

22LugiA22 In reply to Spkmw [2012-10-17 19:19:18 +0000 UTC]

Sry pal but it's to difficult to me!! Maybe i'll try it agin in the future

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spkmw In reply to 22LugiA22 [2012-10-18 04:02:37 +0000 UTC]

It's not that hard. You can start off by watching some video tutorial on how to assemble. Any would be fine (as long as you can see how the people put the triangles together) It's just like lego but with paper triangles!

You can start making something easier like one of my penguins. It's just a little round ball. Hope you give it a try!

22LugiA22 [2012-10-14 21:16:13 +0000 UTC]

how many time did it take to be built?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spkmw In reply to 22LugiA22 [2012-10-15 02:04:38 +0000 UTC]

It took me about half a day to build it. It excludes making the triangle units.

This image should be clear enough.
