I freakin love this!
It's great that you've made the face the focus, rather then the body like most people I see do. It looks great. She looks silent, confident, deadly, and beautiful at the same time. Possibly one of the best Samus faces I've seen, and that is probably because that was the focus of this image.
The helmet also looks excellent! Not as smooth but I like this because it looks more believable. Thanks for also using that visor! That visor is my favorite one and the most badass-looking too in my opinion!

Normally i would have everything seperated in layers. Lines, flat colours, shading, glow. Every transition is done with the airbrush. This way you get this super clean look. You wouldn't want to actually go in and draw over it since it leaves brushmarks. i.e you could adjust the shadow colour of only the red portion of the helmet, impossible when you don't have the shading on a seperate layer.
Without layers you have to plan ahead abit more because it's a pain to fix errors. I'm still uncertain which method i will be using I:

It's nothing to worry about, both are just a way to get to the final result.
Here is a gif. of me colouring "with layers", photoshop is doing alot of the work for you because you use different layer modes rather than accurately picking the right colour (+ since it's on layers you can adjust it until the colours are working)Β 250kb.de/u/140619/g/Q3ZHB0uFXpβ¦
Without layers you skip all of that and just draw on a single layer, basically making everything more difficult to manage.

Oh, I get it. Yeah, I try not to use current later modes. It really forces you to learn how colors work. But I still don't know that much about colors.
Also, looking at the gif it's amazing to see just how much goes into one of your pics. It's strange to me because it's like without the little things you put in there, it wouldn't be the same.
