Kipp never fully comprehended how horrible the phenomenon "Survivor's Guilt" truly felt. They'd never experienced it before.
But things change.
For better or for worse.
It felt absolutely awful to know that their failure to react fast enough resulted in Lemonade losing his arm. No, it felt.. agonizing. They should have been the one to take the hit. It was aimed at them to begin with. Kipp didn't understand why on Ennth he would do that- what could have possibly have been going through his mind. Lemonade could try and justify it all he wanted, but it absolutely wasn't fair. None of them were good excuses. There were no excuses.
Kipp's emotions were so turbulent, like an ocean raring to cause destruction. They were upset. They were guilty.
They were angry.
Why did Lemonade want to play the hero? What made him think it was okay to get himself maimed for their sake?
It wasn't fair.
Kipp couldn't stop all the guilt that was festering. All the anger. All the horrible feelings they felt for their stupid mistake.
Everything was their fault. Nobody would convince them otherwise.
