Description Just a short watercolour sketch of Dr. Ellie Sattler of Jurassic Park fame. I dig her 90s style. I wore shirts like that when I was younger... oh, those were the days.

Love her character and she was my favorite in the series. Β The way she took control and turned on the power while getting attacked by a raptor is the most badass scene I have ever seen.

Ahwww, this looks gorgeous! Love your style!
Ellie is probably the first favourite character I ever had, as a small child I really looked up to her, it's nice to see some good fanart of her.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like her! I was more of a Lex-fan when I was small (I'm basically the same age as Ariana Richards), but a couple of years ago I cosplayed Ellie at New York Comic Con... that was a wonderful experience.

That's very much understandable! Lex is a very nice character as well, and I like how they made her more likable in the movies!
To be honest, there is not a single character I dislike in any of the movies, even if some could be annoying at times.Β
I'm however somewhat disappointing that Ellie and Alan split up before the events of the third movie... I still won't accept that haha.

Ohh, you cosplayed as her? That sounds pretty awesome!

Actually, that's me as Ellie in this picture: raptordash.wordpress.com/2014/… Alan is my husband. So you could probably say that Ellie and Alan had a little happy ending in real life.

Ohhh your cosplay as her looks great! Your husband looks great as well! And seems like even Sarah, Ian and I believe Ned (I believe that was his name? It's been a while last since I watched the Lost World) are there.

My personal headcanon for the third movie is that Alan and Ellie did eventually marry one another, Charlie (the little boy) and the baby are their kids. But Ellie never stopped Alan from going after his dreams, so he still has the same job.
I'm happy to see that at least in real life they had a happy ending.

Indeed. The guy on the right is actually not part of our cosplay group, he just wanted the picture taken. I met a lot of wonderfully crazy people on this day, who showed me their "Jurassic Park"-tattoos and what have you.

'*hums*'..like watercolours in the rain..' Sorry, it's just nice to see that I'm not the only one still doing this old school kind of art. Very light and airy; a stark contrast to the more dominant and often murkier shades of the film, but pleasent nonetheless.

Ah... Roxette. One of my favourite songs, that is. From time to time, watercolours are incredibly relaxing to use... it's like some kind of meditation for me, I reckon.

Very cool! I too have an Ellie in one of my original worlds, but she's a redhead and she's Irish-American. Her husband is also a redheaded Irish-American, and their daughter is their next generation's redhead. I modeled my Ellie after actress Mary McDonnell who starred in Dances With Wolves, Independence Day, and even Scream 4.

The painted sketch itself is like the top-rate concept art you'd see for an animated film character, and the gritty watercolor-paper texture just completes this.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SplatterPhoenix In reply to WingedSonar [2013-07-08 17:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I drew this one on watercolour-paper, as I really love the texture and the feel of it. No Photoshop this time. And you're right - I guess it was supposed to be like some sort of concept art for a fictive animated version of the film. Which they should produce... absolutely.

I'm drawn to your traditional work. Your digital work is incredible, but your use of traditional mediums (and your sketches as well, I feel) give things a more rugged life all their own.
