Chapter Four: Ryouya

Ryouya died at the age of five. His heart ruptured while he was playing in the backyard. I was reading the newspaper when Airi ran in holding him. By the time we got him into the lab he was dead. Airi was in a screaming fit. We had already decided to divorce and he was put under a lot of stress during that time. We thought that was the reason for his heart to rupture the way it did.

I promised Airi that I would save him. We finished the divorce and went our separate ways. She worked as a private teacher for kids with problems. I continued to work on bringing Ryouya back. She had signed off his rights to live with me when she signed the papers to allow us to ‘experiment’ on him.

On one of the days rebuilding his heart another experiment exploded. It sent shockwaves and malfunctions to the other laboratories. Some of the particles from the malfunction joined into Ryouya. It created the mistake. We found the DNA split irreparable but it seemed to have given him the ability to heal faster. It came with a few changes over the next weeks to come. He grew cat ears and a tail. His hair became a red-brown. His hair also grew out faster. Finally his eyes became gold.

I lost my son. He was no longer the blonde hair, blue eyed boy I once knew. Once Airi found out about the accident she had a meltdown. I had to show her he was fine. I had spent three years waiting for his heart to repair and now it was but in a different body now. He became a monster.

After constantly allowing Airi to come in and check on the boy for a year I grew tired of allowing him to be known as Ryouya. The generals needed a new fighter to attack the viruses and we already had one. I started to call him Experiment A Prototype. And soon he was brought back into the world as an accidental monster that was soon to be a weapon of mass destruction. Airi still loved him even though he had changed so dramatically. She even started to teach him after he had lost his memories of us. I placed him in a home by himself to where he could not be a reminder of my failure.
Now all he probably thinks about is his real name and Airi because of my selfishness to lock him out of my heart and memories of my once beautiful young boy.- Tadashi [END LOG]
