She's okay. She could use some flaws, but she's okay.

Ok, If she actually had a "Stinger" boxing glove, that would make me like her more!

It's actually from the Simpsons episode " The Homer They Fall".

Now that we've gotten a good number of episodes out for this season, I think it's pretty obvious that they put a lot more to her character than people initially thought. IMO She is the best addition of the 3 newer main characters (I like Poof, Sparky not so much), and has a lot of potential. Unlike Sparky, who other than being a dog, was basically a "knock-off Cosmo" who they ran out of ideas for pretty quickly.
As I think many people have said, her debut episode was not that great, it felt very rushed and the writers really didn't develop her in that episode properly. The whole "Parody Sue" thing was clearly intended to be a joke, with the plan to deconstruct it at the end of the episode, but they basically spent 30 seconds at the episode trying to explain how she is flawed and needs fairies. "Whittle Me This" I think was a good follow-up to that episode. But the BFSC wasn't a good start, coupled with the fans with "nostalgia goggles" who are going to shred anything Nickelodeon does as a whole after they grew up, the new intro didn't help either (Which according to an insider, supposedly was ordered by Nick literally two weeks before the season premiere, explaining why it basically was just a mash-up clips from the first few episodes and 2 singers for the new lyrics, rather than a chorus.)

At least Nick tries to knock a little sense into fans heads. Sort of telling them to step off, leave us alone, we know of our flaws and we're fixing them bit by bit. So just be happy that the show(s) got a new season.Β

Haters are just manchildren, like, honestly, it's meant for kids, not manchildren with nostalgia googles permanently on. Even if it is for kids, I'm still fine with it.

And it's not like your acting like a twat calling people out for not liking a character. It's not like the network is milking the show dry and adding new characters that nobody asked or cared for.

Let's see how far the writers go with the episodes. Don't be one of those "crazy" people who complainΒ a lot about the episodes, plots and characters. It's not the fault of the episodes, but of the writers.

What're your thoughts on Poof and Sparky? I actually liked Sparky's design and colors.

retcon. Making characters forget about what happened to them in previous episodes.

It annoys me so many people dislike her.
Like a lot of people didn't even give her character a chance upon her introduction, just cause she's 'new'
I honestly feel like she brings something new to the show, a much better addition than Sparky or Poof in my book.

I liked Sparky and Poof. They were dropped for pretty much no apparent reason. ANd Poof is in the title sequence of the Fairly Oddparents intro.

Poof hasn't been totally dropped, just mosty dropped.
I liked Poof, but I feel like Chloe adds more to the episodes.
but to be honest I really didn't like Sparky, and it seems like they've decanonized Season 9 altogether.

What didn't you like about Sparky and/or Poof in general? What did they do "wrong" that made the series so bad?
π: 0 β©: 1
Coreyinthehouse In reply to spongefox [2016-03-11 18:12:22 +0000 UTC]
I didn't say they made the show bad, they weren't the cause of the decline, that was just the writing at the time.
Only problem with Poof is the fact in a lot of episodes he was just sort of...'there', and the writers had a hard time inserting him uniquely into episodes.
When he WAS important, I really liked him!
As for Sparky.
Idk, Sparky's character just seemed kinda cliche by FOP standards, he was yet another character inserted we're supposed to laugh at how dumb he is, like Cosmo and Timmy's Dad, but most of Sparky's stupidity didn't come off as that funny to me, just annoying.
I guess I have kinda the same complaints a lot of people have with 'Bunga' from 'The Lion Guard' except oddly enough, I actually LIKE Bunga, and find him incredibly funny.
weird...
but you're free to like him though, and he was in no way what made the Season 9 episodes bad to me, I didn't like them because they didn't seem to 'flow' to me.
Like, instead of an actual plot sticking in a lot of gags, Season 9 felt like it prioritized gags over actual plot and continuity.
But again, that's just my opinion.

I think fandom's ruin the series for everybody sometimes. I liked Sparky cause of his design and colors.

His design's pretty cool I guess, but I have a hard time liking a character just for their design.
I just wish he had a more unique personality.

π: 0 β©: 1
Coreyinthehouse In reply to spongefox [2016-03-13 02:56:12 +0000 UTC]
Firstly:
Different voice actor.
His voice actor isn't bad by any means, but he always comes off as stupid, even when he's not trying to be.
Secondly: Make the dog more focused on his hyperactive traits that were focused upon in the first episode,
and less focused upon his stupidity, that is a cliche among FOP characters.

spongefox In reply to Coreyinthehouse [2016-03-13 03:28:49 +0000 UTC]
that may work. I'll have to see a sample of it in either a fan art or fiction. And another thing. why in the world did they add a dog in Season 9? Cause Cosmo,Wanda and Poof can turn into dogs. Cause "DUH" they're magic!!!!

Coreyinthehouse In reply to spongefox [2016-03-13 20:52:45 +0000 UTC]
That's a really good question, it..doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
I mean Cosmo and Wanda HAVE been dogs before.
In some of the Crimson Chin episodes right?
