Description
Something I randomly drew. I know it's not spectacular, but I really dig the old school cartoony sort of backgrounds. Even the really simplistic ones.Related content

It's not really a robot. It's a mechanized building.

thanks. Have you ever tried drawing scenery,no characters in it at all?

Actually, I have been drawing a few scene-pictures recently... mainly designs for Danbuster's house and Retsubnad's mountaintop castle.
More recently, I also tried drawing the cottage of Dan's hedgehog-scientist friend, Albert Einspine... complete with somewhat steampunkish chimneys, observatory and workshop built into and around it and the nearby hill.
Also, I did some pictures of the Wilkinson's home (the otter-family that raised Frederick my ferret-character from an orphan) - an interior with the family in the sitting room, and an exterior showing the house, which is sort of a façade built into a hummock by the river (like a real otter-holt)

Cool. Were they all drawn by hand or computer? and a hummock? I don't believe I've heard of that word. Sound too much like "hammock".

Hand-drawn so far, though I've recently been vector-tracing the drawing of Danbuster's house to appear as an exterior scene in Flash.
Perhaps I should submit the design drawings as well, though?
Hummock in this context is a small hillock.

If you want to submit them. I'm not saying or suggesting you should, but it would be nice to see some of your scenery work. I rarely ever draw backgrounds/scenes in my art due to my "bad perspective".

Don't worry, it just takes practice - one or two points of my drawings are a bit off-perspective and need straightening out later. At least in Flash I can draw in guidelines on another layer and find the distant vanishing-points.

This is true, but I really don't use a ruler at all.Nor a straight edge. I just draw as I go.

Straight edges for most buildings, at least... lifeforms are all curves!

that's a funny assumption.

You mean there really are straight-edged creatures outside of fiction?

Heh, heh... like there's this character called the Woozy from the Oz stories, who's actually cube-shaped!

ah. I think I've seen that comic. Why did they take it out of the newspapers? Is it online, or did the creator "go home"?

I was referring to the "Land of Oz" book-series by L Frank Baum.
