I like the action poses on this pic as well as the coloring. You brought out the true personna of both characters. The ocean background with seagulls was an excellent touch to the mood of your artpic.

A very nice homage to the 1992 sequel and through your style of cartoonish drawing there is a lot of juice and love within here. The alternative idea of Tails in super works nicely here although it is a tad difficult to tell that he is thriving upon the Emerald power. With the warm tones of yellow it appears more as though he is simply flying as he normally does.
What really does bring out the energy and charm is your comic book style for the lushes line art and simple palette of colour really works excellently. Although you say this one is old we can see that it has come along way to what it is now.
