After Harman and Ising left Leon Schlesinger in 1933 and took their star Bosko with them, the only thing that Leon kept was the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies names. Since he still wanted some animated content, he hired several new animators from other studios. Among those animators were Chuck Jones and Frank Tashlin. For directors, Tom Palmer became the sole director for both series. As for a new star, Earl Duvall created Buddy and Tom Palmer created two shorts staring the white boy. However, Warner Bros. hated those shorts so much that they refused to accept them so Friz Freleng was called in to edit those two shorts into one barely watchable short which was accepted. After directing I've Got a Torch Song On You, Tom Palmer was fired and replaced by Earl Duvall as the director of both series.

What do I think of Buddy? He sucks! He's just so boring. He doesn't even have the fun qualities of Bosko. I only found one good short among all these snooze fests. Easily one of the worst Looney Tunes characters.
