Just stuff like that really

Hm, Wheatley, I'm not sure if you want to get involved with those guys.
Then again, I assume necromorphs aren't a threat to robots?
It kinda confuses me how Wheatley and Space core can possibly be floating in space. They couldn't have gotten that far from the moon, so I'd think they fall there quite soon.

They'd probably chew him up, or he'd get damaged by mistake.
Well they're never really seen to interact with technology really, so he probably would be of no or little interest to them. maybe just out of the moon's gravitational pull. But they probably are either on the moon or orbiting it.

Such small objects would come down eventually...
Probably on the moon.

Who knows maybe they'll make a reappearence for a portal 3? Or a Cameo in a future Half-life game

I kinda doubt they will cross-over characters from Half-life and Portal...
Also, I doubt we'll ever see the Space Core again, except in a very very small role. He would, if brought back and given a bigger role wear out his welcome very quickly. Since he is very much a one-joke character. And one-word character, even.
Wheatley, him coming back is more likely...
He is a character who needs a suitable character against him, in Portal 2 it's GLaDOS, and the two work well together in the story and characterisation.
If Wheatley would be brought back, he'd need something to do.
Perhaps something could be made out of his relationship to GLaDOS, perhaps forcing them to work together, but Portal 2 already did that with GLaDOS and Chell...
I can see why they'd want to write Wheatley to a position like that in the end of Portal 2; he's not dead, is safe from GLaDOS, and can be brought back. But on the other hand his storyline is kinda finished (although his relationship and apology to Chell is left a bit open), which is something they had to do in case they can't get Merchant again to play the part. Because no-one could take over the role of Wheatley from him, he made it so totally his.
But he is expensive, and in any case, you never know with stuff like this, if you manage to get the staff back.

Actually Cave Johnson mentions Black Mesa and there's apparently a reference to Half-life in the previous game, so they're technically in the same universe.
True, but he does get bored of Space after a while and babbles on about going home.
GLaDOS and Wheatley teaming up would be awesome to see I could see some good lines coming out of a team-up like that.
Wheatley's voice was just right for him, they'd have to find a very good impersonator if they couldn't get Merchant back but even then they'd have to get his approval still for a immitation of his voice to appear at best. So most ways he's unlikely to come back without Merchant, but it'd be nice if he did.

I know Portal and Half-life take place in the same universe(you can apparently find some experiment mentioned in Half-life underground in Portal 2), but I doubt they'd go so far as to mix characters. Half-life is a bit different in tone, isn't it?
And I'm not sure if it would be within their best interest to make the link between the games too great.
"True, but he does get bored of Space after a while and babbles on about going home."
I highly doubt that... He got a happy ending, I don't really see a reason to bring him back.
From what I hear, Merchant has said he would like to reprise his role as Wheatley.
Let's hope that happens. Actually, I'm almost certain we will see Wheatley again in some DLC content for Portal 2.
They can make few missions taking place simultaneously with Portal 2 with the co-op bots. Wheatley found them, after all, and it could easily fit in that he made them do tests.
Time-line wise it's perhaps a little iffy, but it could fit.
Of course, if they are planning to do that, they have probably already recorded his lines and planned for the future DLC in advance.

Yeah, he could help him hack through doors! Though I wouldnt trust him to help with building anything after all the trouble he caused before.
Thanks.
