I've been getting back into warriors and as always I love my melancholy old man, so the natural conclusion? Cat-ify him.

So meet Basiltail, medicine cat of ShineClan -- a once-great Clan that is often falling apart and struggling, and is known for taking in cats from all walks of life. He's a blue oriental. He was meant to be a warrior, set to follow in his father Basilstar's footsteps... but when he began his warrior apprenticeship, most exertion started coughing fits. His father sent him to the medicine den, where Basiltail (then Basilpaw) found an affinity for herb memorization.
Shortly after earning his medicine cat name, he discovered two kittens in the forest in leaf-fall. He began to care for them, and asked to adopt them into the Clan for the leaf-bare. His father refused, saying they were not Clan cats, and after much argument, Basiltail was told that he could either stay with the Clan, or go live with the kits. Angry, Basiltail chose the latter and crossed the border somewhere he knew he'd have a chance at acceptance -- ShineClan. He has lived there since, and raised the kits partly as his own.
