This was nearly a piece I never finished. I'll shove some pictures in my Scraps to show you what this picture looked like for nearly a year
I was just cruising through all my old PSD's to find something to stick in my portfolio and came across this. I remember first doing it and just running out of steam after a while and leaving it to gather dust in my documents.
Now I've dug it out and finished it. I wanted to put even more characters in but I'm too lazy ¬¬

Blimey, this is probably the nicest thing in your gallery so far. The figures are far tighter in this than your other work and the colours and composition are really solid. Using a huge face for a background is a nice touch too.

I find it hilarious Simon looks the worst drawn, despite being dead centre, Nia is by far the most detailed, and Attenborough is the most accurate to the normal anime style XD

Wonderful! I could never dare use that many characters in one picture... I attempted to do one with... *counts fingers* 7? Characters but I ended up only colouring 2 XD after a half-finished image sits in your pictures folder for half a year, you start loosing the inspiration you had in the first place, ne?
But I must ask, from the portfolio comment... Does this kinda stuff make a difference? I was holidaying in the Disney World this year, and some artists there told me that if I had any anime in my portfolio, it would be instantly rejected without so much as a second glance... Is this really true? D: If so, I'm screwed.

Depressingly, yes. A good portfolio demonstrates that you can draw pretty much anything. If your portfolio is filled simply with anime then you are only demonstrating one style.
Ideally in a portfolio you will need to have some life-drawing, techincal drawing, perspective drawing, landscapes, portraits, some anime, some still-life, some pattern work, group pictures, single pictures etc...
Your portfolio won't be immediately rejected for having anime in it, but there should be little of it in there, if any at all.

Yeah. It was long and hard, but I got there in the end. The part I thought I was going to hate the most was drawing Gurren Lagann in the corner, but it turned out that I actually enjoyed doing him the most.
