Description Hey all! Long time no post ><
Here's a quick one.... it's quite late, but I suddenly had inspiration on a concept design for a SH monster I've been meaning to draw for a week or so now. Took 1 and a half hours to do, and now I ought to go to bed! =_=

He's called 'stigma' (for reasons I guess people can see), and that's what he represents. He carries the weight of people's doubts/prejudice/hatred.
He has a lurching walk the falters with each step, the weight of the hand/shrouded object on his back bearing him to the floor, almost making him fall, screaming silently and shaking every time his 'feet' meet the floor (kinda like Jesus in Passion of teh Gibson).

His attack is for the fingers of that hand to seize the head of the victim, and to rip with his teeth when they're caught and prone.

I love this concept very creepy and disturbing, if I saw this ingame I would have to gun down every single one I see because I would not want to see it alive or have to go back through stuff and deal with it more than once, its just one of those freaky enemies which is a very good thing grt8 job!!!

Excellent design. It would be INCREDIBLY scary if you ever had to fight one of these things. The feet are a nice touch. You could re-attach the hands to the shoulders so they would look like they were strangling its neck. Even thought the design reminds me of the gatekeeper, it has so many unique touches that I think it can still stand alone as a unique design. It's cool that you have so much creative range.

The honor is mine. I am ecstatic that I get to communicate with an artist like you. Your response was more than enough thanks. Sorry that those web designs are so late... I am incredible tallented at being stupid/procrastinating.

Thanks. Hey, can you tell the people at Avatar that I am interested in working for them. I sent them e-mail but they haven't responded. I want to see if they would like to publish my graphic novel, "HEILIGaN". It is like they don't check their e-mail or something.

spoonbard In reply to Viethra-Schepherd [2008-09-08 09:16:34 +0000 UTC]

No probs!
I'm afraid Avatar aren't taking any new projects at the moment, and they very rarely accept randomly pitched projects too.
They occupy an odd place in the market where they're small enough to do creator owned projects, but large enough to pick and choose those projects. This means that they end up hiring very well known writers who want to get away from marvel/dc and do their own stuff (Ellis and Moore and Ennis among others), and then hand-picking artists for the projects who they contact themselves. I'd suggest approaching Image with your work, since they're less editorial and provide more opportunities for previously unpublished creators.

Bear in mind that you're only 16 (by your page details at least) and still developing your work too I didn't get my first work published till I was 20, and nearly through university, and even then it was just a single illustration in a larger book! It takes a long time and practice to build up a reputation and the more vocational skills needed on top of raw artistic talent. So stick with it enthusiastically like you're already doing, but don't get discouraged if things don't work out straight away.

Thanks, yeah mostly I was contacting them about doing some cover for Anna Mercury. Percio facundo is awesome and your cover were very inspiring. I have a show planned with Adult swim, but I thought Avatar would be interested in my non-moving work. I will definitely research Image. Avatar has quite the lineup so I can see why they would be tied up. My work has a lot to go before I can achieve the sort of things you have. Thank you very much for the advice. If at first you don't succeed, even hypothetically, try try again.

It wasn't TOOO hard because they are the people who ended up broadcasting "twelve ounce mouse" so they seem to be okay with just about anything. I have written a few episodes and done a bunch of concept art. The thing is gonna be involved with Ipod if possible. lesean Thomas may be part of it, but I really have no idea. The problem is that (as you said) I'm sixteen so highschool makes it hard to work on animation quickly. Also I am still searching for voice overs. Most main character voices are chosen though. I saw how well Rolighted did. What would your advice be. I mean,. you created an instant classic that was only a few mintues long.

cooool lol I love the illustration for this design, the idea of creating a SH character is something I've always wanted to do. because I'm so inspired by the game.

I like the way you've described the creature and the idea behind it, its funny you call it a "he" because those long legs make me think of a woman LOL special with the skin and veins of the 'hand' billowing over the edge of its bum like a frilly skirt hehe.
I've been playing SH again recently with some friends and we always argue whether the monsters have 'male' or 'female' characteristics.

^_^ Awesome! Have you played Silent Hill Origins yet?? Oo I'm just playing it at the mo, and it's definitely a good addition to the series. Interesting question about the gender. I just had it in my head that it was a 'he' from the beginning.
