Description Time for another of the Planescape portraits. The last follower of a long-dead god, this adventurer hails from the quasi-elemental plane of dust. The direction was, 'make her dirty, DIRTY!' Kind of a hard effect to get... Well, my favorite part is the goggles.

Pencil drawing painted (and dirtified) using Photoshop.

This is amazing, and I agree with the critiques given so far, and I understand its been years since you drew this, but one aspect no one has mentioned is the hair color. In an environment like this her blond hair would be considerably less discernible as such, unless her true hair color is more of a platinum. Hair tends to collect dust like that in a real bad way and if its actually blond her hair would look more brown or grey.

My uncle has a dog they call Goldy, when they found her she was a dark golden brown. They didn't discover she was white until it rained.

From all your drawings/paintings, what I like the most is the way you achieve that texture... I'm envious you know? ;___;
Nice detail on clothes and good expression! SOmehow, the way the chin is shaded, makes her look like having beard T__T

Great attention to detail....even the lighter area around the eyes, because she has been wearing her goggles at times!! Very beautiful and realistic character!!

Very nice! The coloring is great and the dust/dirt looks amazingly real. The dust makes it look like she's in an uprising dust storm to me.

I agree with the dust (beginning under her eyes and working its way down) is a little distracting, as the top of her face and above her head looks fine. The kerchif around her neck gives it a nice touch (that way she could put it over her nose and mouth to breathe in the dust storms!), and the goggles are, of course, awesome. Is she a Halfling? I took one look at her and I thought 'Halfling'. It must be the mischivous smile on her face.

She's supposed to be human, but I introduced a little non-human into her lineage with the slightly pointed ear... Since you mention it, she does look a little halfling-ish.

This is amazing. The first thing that jumps out at me is the amount of detail that you put into her goggles. I can see why that is your favorite part of the image. The shading looks top notch and I really like how the "dirty" texture adds to the pic's personality and theme.

Lookin pretty good. I especially like the eyes, having the cool, potent blue cutting through the dull earth tones of the piece. Having them placed right near the center of the composition also helps the eyes act as a strong focal point in the piece.

Weight does seem to be a tad bit of an issue here. I see you going for a dusty effect on the left, but unfortunately, it looks like high contrast noise. I don't read it as dust, but static. It's a bit distracting from the rest of the piece, throwing my attention onto it moreso than the rest of the piece.

You are right about the goggles. They are very well created, and fit the character well.

Good highlighting work on the fabric, too. It looks convincing, and carries its own distinct style from the rest of the highlighting on other parts. One of my own problems when working with lighting is that my highlights will look similar to the skin tones. I find particular difficulty in breaking apart the stylization of metals, skin, fabric, dirt, etc. However in this one, it's separated out very well.

Excellent work all around. Great job.

Very good critique! Thanks!

You're right about the dust--it pretty much is just noise. Too sharp. This was meant for small-scale in-game use; the noise looked more like dust when rez'ed-down.
