Yes but this is not a modern day tie so what is it? Also weren't they more like frilly things? I dunno.. I just don't see how it fits in with the gothic thing...

it's a tie. The frilly things are cravats. It's gothic in the sense that what I am wearing is relating to a gothic period in history. Genrerally the time in which that little thing we call gothic architecture was a feature.
