This picture was done for last semester in my colored pencil class. I had thought I lost it somewhere so I am very relieved to have found it again. The assignment was to try to demonstrate distance and I only had a week to finish it. Considering the time restrictions I am pretty happy with it. O and can you tell that I like bubbles?Most of you can probably tell me who this character is but for those of you whom I am just getting to know he named Gizz. I originally created him for a short series of fairy pictures and then I fell in love with him. The bubble thing is just part of the story I have been attempting to write about him.
This piece was done completely in prisma colored pencils on smooth Bristol paper.
Gizz is ยฉ to me.

I think you did well with conveying distance, with the layering of leaves and bubbles, and the vines twisting into the foreground and the border. Really nice work! The bubbles are really pretty.

O I dont know if I told you but I did sculpt gizz. I just need to paint him and glue a wing back on. He took a little spill. *Bangs head.* Kleo is also awaiting paint.

Yes. As soon as I can barrow a good digital camera. Might try taking them to school tomarrow to use the one in the lab. I just have to be very carful transporting them.

gorgeous. i'm glad you found it and posted it! you are def. an inspiration person; i just want to draw a lot of fantasy-ish stuff. i think those leaves are wonderful... hehe, i love them. and giz of course too!

Thank you. I have been kicking myself all semester about not finding it too. The leaves are actualy inspired by a plant that is at my boy friend's house. Every thing just kind of built up from there.

If you get the chance you should but i understand the time. I can barly stay ontop of everything that is going on myself. you can always check books out of the library but you dont get that student teacher advantage.

Thanks. I am a big fan of the box thing as well. i think this is the second time I have done it with this character. I think with practice you could get some symilar effects. I have seen how much you grew this year. Just keep that up. if you want to know more about colored pencils go look in some books. The pictures are going to look wierd at first because for shading you lay down the oposite color on the weel first before coloring it with the one you want but it really adds a nice atmosphere.
