Personality: Merlin is mild-mannered, especially compared to several of his teammates. He's very happy to have received evolution, since this gives him new options to work with his team. Also, he doesn't mind being prettier than before with Maris as his trainer.

Yeah, so when I saw that evolution was part of the trial, Merlin was the choice. The Milotic evolution mechanics is kind of wonky because of the choice to not include contests in so many games, and when I was first looking at the Trials, an evolution was required. Plus, I don't like drawing Feebas. The problem is, drawing a Milotic consistently is hard. Really hard. I threw in the tail refs to help me, since I noticed that I would sometimes draw Merlin off model, so to speak. I struggled with this on the ref.
Milotic: so pretty, so difficult to draw.
