Pokémon fanart to commemorate the release of Pokémon X and Y today. It's Clemont, the fifth gym leader, accompanied by his pokemon, bunnelby. Well, at least, he has a bunnelby in the anime. Not in the game, because he's the electric gym leader, hmm. Pokémon is very discontinuous in things like this. Oh well. Rabbits are cute, so there. Plus, I drew this about two weeks ago, before all of the game stuff was leaked. I just waited to upload it today. Yeah, anyway, I'm probably the only person looking forward to the new anime, I mean, there's no way Ash's new companions can be as bad as Cilan and Iris. This kid is a freakin' inventor for goodness sakes. He can't be as stupid as everyone else, right? Right? I hope. But back to the discontinuity issue, how did this kid become the gym leader of the biggest city in Kalos, Paris Lumiose City?Pokémon belongs to Nintendo/Game Freak/Pokémon Company

Based on the dialogue he has with the player revolving around science and his inventions, there is a 99.9% chance that he will be very intelligent and have a sort of running gag with him making inventions with questionable effectieness. He even says he wants to build a machine to feel the sensation of being the Champion. If that's not nerdy, I don't know what is.
Regardless, I can't wait for the anime. Clemont quickly grew to be tied with Bugsy as m fav gym leader, and just seeing him have some sort of external connection with someone not form the Pokemon League already gave me an inkling he would be more than some normal gym leader. Plus, he will be the 2nd traveling companion with a sense of intellect (although many people dislike him, I honestly found Max not too annoying or anything, though I do agree on the whole lack of Pokemon excuse), so it will definitely be interesting to see how this turns out.

I'm hoping the anime is pretty good, too! And intellectual characters make a great balance for the show; well, beside the fact that they always make Ash look even more ridiculous by comparison. I really didn't see a problem with Max in the anime, he was probably the smartest character in that entire season, which was just sad, because everyone was older than him. But you're right. Kids lacking Pokemon in the anime doesn't make much sense, especially when you consider that you battle preschoolers in the games.

Just saw the dub. His voice was not what I was expecting, but I can say it grew on me from hearing it a lot. So yeah, can't wait!

Wow, you're right. I just looked it up, and neither his voice nor Bonnie's are anything like I imagined. I mean, they aren't bad, but they seem a lot older that the characters.
I didn't realize until now that the dubbed episodes were online before they aired. What? The cable channels are slacking.
