--Please check the Exploration Status in the Journal before commenting here--Check the weather on the front page before you go!
--things are getting a bit slushy right now - it's recommended that you stay off of the ice on the ponds and rivers.
For conservation efforts, we have to limit the amount of people that are in the Springs area at any one given time. If there is a slot below that is empty, you are welcome to begin an exploration. If there is not, you must wait until someone else is finished. There is no waitlist; forms posted when slots are full will be disregarded and hidden.
You may not hold more than one slot at the same time.
You must wait 24 hours after the completion of your previous exploration before starting another one.

Area Information
--------------------Easy Difficulty--------------------
- Wetlands: An area right outside the Shelter's doors, the Wetlands are easily traversed. We recommend that you bring bug spray.
Areas of Interest: Twisted Tree, Dry Island, Sinking Sand
- The Glade: The Glade is a bright copse of aspen and poplar trees only minutes from the shelter. A great place for a picnic.
Areas of Interest: Three Aspens, Meadow, Wildflower Patch
- Deep Pond: The Deep Pond has two small islands. It is quite deep.
Areas of Interest: South Island, North Island, Peninsula
- Near Pond: The Near Pond is the closest of the four to the Shelter. It also has one island that is a bit bigger than Deep's.
Areas of Interest: Island, Shoreline Grasses, Shallows
--------------------Medium Difficulty--------------------
- Cold Pond: The first pond on the stream is the coldest of the four ponds. There is a small raft available should you wish to cross to one of the Cold Pond's island.
Areas of Interest: East Island, West Island, Inlet
- Muddy Pond: The last pond on the stream before it heads out of the Springs is deep, but it does not appear so because of the amount of silt and mud within it. We must ask that you do not try to cross the pond.
Areas of Interest: Mud Flats, Shoreline, Underbridge
- Hot Pool: A warm hot spring rises out of the ground here. If you do not mind sharing the water with a few creatures, it is the perfect place to relax.
Areas of Interest: Spring Source, Scented Grasses, Circling Rocks
- Grasslands: To the east of the Springs, the rolling plains take over. Part of these plains, called the Grasslands, are included within the Spring's jurisdiction.
Areas of Interest: Rock Formations, Hilltop, Burying Grasses
--------------------Hard Difficulty--------------------
- Far Forest: On the northern side of the Springs a dense, jungle-like forest begins. The Far Forest is dark and humid.
Areas of Interest: Mother Tree, Root Cavern, Canopy
- Northern Plains: To the side of the Far Forest is the North Plain. This plain is similar to the Grasslands, but the trek out there is much more tedious and because of its proximity to the mountains, the creatures found there are typically harder to find.
Areas of Interest: Rock Clumps, Streamshore, Blue Grasses
- Forest of Voices: This mainly coniferous forest is a prickly journey and not for the faint of heart.
Areas of Interest: Pillar of Wood, Life Flowers, Old Temple
- The Falls: These waterfalls signify the end of the Springs jurisdiction along the creek. Please do not play in the water above the falls; the Springs is not liable for your actions.
Areas of Interest: Edge Island, Misty Ledge, Tumbled Pool
- Rock Tower: The Rock Tower is a tall mound of rocks in the middle of the Springs. No one knows exactly how they got there. From the top, you can see the entire Springs quite well.
Areas of Interest: Strange Striation, Top of the World, Secret Cavern
--------------------Extreme Difficulty--------------------
- The Mountain: It's a strange world up in the mountains. The creatures up there are tough and feisty; we can only permit those who are willing to use extreme caution to hike into the Mountain. The Mountain Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Mountains, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species.
Areas of Interest: Tree Line, Crystal Cave, Scraggy Outcrop
- The Juran Desert: Outside of the temperate climate that surrounds the Springs is the vast Juran Desert, also known as the Wandering Dunes. It is quite easy to get lost in the desert and so we only allow those who have experience to enter the Juran Desert. The Juran Desert Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Juran Desert, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species

Actions: Being tired and worn out from life I head out to the glade for some peace of mind. Camargue follows me curiously from a distance but doesn't seem intent on leading me anywhere. I spend a couple hours in the glade just relaxing in the grass and letting the chill settle over my easily-overheated skin. While laying in the grass, I feel myself drift to sleep.

Actions: With Wubie by my side, looking out for me as always, I pack up a bag to head to the glade. I nudge Tahaka , telling him I am going exploring and giving him a chance to tag along. When he decides yes he does want to come, I pick up my camera as well so that we can take a few pictures of our surroundings since I know he likes that. By the time we reach the glade it is already nighttime. After adjusting my camera for optimal night photos Tahaka, Wubie, and I start walking around, taking our time to leisurely explore and take a photo of anything interesting.

Actions: I pack a small bag with a few snacks, my sketchbook, a pencil or two and a bag of colored pencils. Ready for the short trek to the glade for some flower study. Mimi follows me out, chuffing at me for attention.
Though I'm not heading very far Camargue has included themself and floats ahead of me in order to lead me to the patch. Unlike usual Camargue doesn't have much to cover themself to lead me from a distance, so they float in plain sight some distance away. When we get to the glade, Camargue doesn't let me sit wherever, instead floating above the particular flower they apparently want me to draw. I shake my head but set up to sit and draw it anyway, trusting that Camargue's guidance will lead me to what I'm meant to find. Mimi prowls through the flowers.

The sun has just begun to rise as we cross the grasslands and make our way to the Three Aspens. My horde of knops is never big enough so I decide to pull out my trusty burlap to attract a new little friend. Tourmaline sits by my feet and I watch her antenna twitch towards the westward trees and lay my bag down near the roots. Dighost is about ready for a nap and decides to curl up on my other side while we wait.

Actions: After finally meeting Erato, I thought going on an exploration would be great chance for us to bond more. In the process, I'd at least get to know them more. Today's target was the Rock Tower. I'd always liked rocks as a kid, so today I brought one of my own with me. In my bag sat a dormant dark orb waiting to find a new owner. While climbing the Tower, I stop to admire the surrounding scenery from the height of the tower. Erato and I were getting pretty close to the top-- BWAH!! I trip over an extended root and tumble downward, bouncing off of a ledge and into a notch. I groan and realize that my bag had been unclasped in the process. I look over anxiously as my Dark Orb rolls into a small cavern, one i didn't realize was there before. Erato is above me, watching worriedly as the Orb disappears from view, into the darkness of the cavern.

Actions: Instead of exploring any specific part of the mountain. This time I just want to wonder around with Wubie and Kaiba guiding me. As I walk and climb in peace I honestly let my mind wonder, thinking of what we may find, what troubles we may come across. I don't dwell too long though since exploring a dangerous area distracted is how you get bitten... After a long day of exploring and making progress I stop at the smallest of streams hidden away higher up on the mountain. Kaiba wonders off as if he is still searching while Wubie sticks close to me.

Actions: Shiver , Vicenza and I all set out after I've packed my usual backpack of things, provisions and extra clothes, flashlight, rope, anything we might need if anything were to go wrong or we were to be gone long. Spring is nearing soon and the weather is starting to get warmer every now and then so it's nice whenever the sun is out and my mood has been pretty up lately. Today we're in search of a new friend, but on the way to our destination Shiver sticks by my side and Vicenza sniffs at everything he can find, searching under every stick and rock we come across and getting lost in the grass, tail sticking out and making it the only way to spot him. When we finally get to the Cold Pond we eventually find a nice perch and the boys run around sniffing for anything interesting. Meanwhile I sit on my perch, a nice big rock, and I open my backpack to break out snacks and water. Filling some collapsible bowls with water, I pour out some food for the boys as well and then take out a sandwich I packed, munching on it as I also take the lettuce I packed from my little thermal bag that's been keeping it all cold. I stare at the lettuce and start to pick off leaves, looking at them as I scatter them around the ground in front of me. I play with the lettuce head until there's no leaves left to scatter, and then just watch the greenery and kick one leaf around with my foot a little. I wonder what kind of friend we'll find today.

Actions: Fledge ever the protective one leads me out the door once I have a pack full of supplies fit for the mountain. With Camargue flitting around on the edge of my senses I follow their lead through the many areas on the way to the mountains. I make it to foot of the mountains just as the sky is starting to lighten. Camargue's lantern light seems to lead me up the path of least resistance and Fledge follows behind me to make sure to catch me if I do fall. After a long trek I pause to look out over the springs.

Actions: I take my satchel from the closet and whistle for my faithful Dighost to come with me. He has become quite the adventurer and has his eyes set on that badge. I trust his instincts to take me to my destination, having never been to the falls before. Dighost guides me around the mud and sink holes and soon find ourselves at the base of the falls. A small path can be seen winding it's way up the cascade and we begin to climb. Not longer after we see a small Ledge with the most curling around it. I take a breather and pull out the chew toy and squeak it a few times, but Dighost is uneasy as we soon notice someone else has joined our company, staring intently at the toy in my hand.

Actions: I quickly pack my bags for a new adventure and call Nougat towards me, "Alright little one, im heading out again and I want nothing more than to invite you along, what do you say, cutie?" I ask, instantly getting a happy and excited reaction from her.
After saying goodbye to the rest of the crew, Nougat and I head out towards the Deep Pond, excited for what we could possibly find there. As we drew nearer and nearer, we decided to move our direction towards the North Island, hoping that would lead us to the best possible outcome. Once there, I remove my bag from over my shoulder and toss it on the ground, a small bell rolling out. I laugh softly as I see Nougat start to play with it, "I suppose it cant hurt to let you play with it while we wait." I say, looking out over the deep water that surrounded us.

Actions: I decided I wanted to try venturing out of the area, I decided to take my first pet with me, Sabbeth. I'm not a huge fan of hot times, so I decided on early dawn because it is cooler around that time. I wanted to go during early dusk, but then when I visited the Spring Source with Sabbeth I knew it wouldn't be as pretty. When we eventually got to the Hot Pool's Spring Source, I dripped my arm in the warm water, it was indeed very warm it felt kind of nice. Sabbeth wanted did as well, but it was a bit too hot for his liking. I then took out the Sugar cube I had in my possession, and peacefully watched the sunrise in hopes a Xoal would come to me while me and Sabbeth relaxed at the Source.

Actions: Knowing the desert is no cake walk and I am a weenie when it comes to heat I pack my bag with the necessities but also keep it light. Wubie hovers around me, waiting patiently for me to get everything together. After a few last minute outfit changes and a good layer of sunscreen and bug spray I whistle for Kokbiel and head out the door. We walk for a while and I am quite surprised to discover it is rather cloudy today with a lot of shade, as I have not yet been hit by actual sun rays. I look up to see if by some weird turn of events it will rain during the dry season, only to recognize that particular cloud formation. I smile to myself and thank Aolani for the shade he is providing my travel party. By the time we reach the desert I notice Aolani is starting to dissipate so I whistle to him a job well done and ask him to head on home so he doesn't hurt himself. The sun is just barely starting to set, so I hope the trek through the desert will not be horrendous. I turn to Kokbiel and grin at her.
"Alright babe, you are my tour guide! Take me somewhere you liked to be!" Kokbiel tilts her head at me addressing her but after a moment she lowers her head to the sand, sniffs around a bit, then starts walking with a purpose. I glance over to Wubie, who trills softly at me, before following Kokbiel. We walk for what seems like forever in my opinion, eventually coming upon what looks like a ruined temple... out here, in the desert??
Kokbiel seems to be apprehensive about going too close to the temple and I wonder if this used to be her old territory. She seems adamant about staying a little bit away from the place, circling around diligently as if watching for danger. I start to look around and find a nice place to sit so I use this opportunity to get water out of my pack and rest a bit. As I am doing so, the blank mask clipped to my pack seems to stare at me expectantly. I unclip it and turn it over a few times in my hands while I rest, wondering if this is the place or not. After resting I get up to explore a bit, Wubie sometimes following me and sometimes leading me, the soft glow of her lantern visible now that the sun is sitting on the horizon. I take in small details about the temple and absentmindedly run my free hand along walls and any structure I can reach. I pull my hand back after a particularly long, unbroken wall, and am surprised to notice that paint flecks are on my fingers. I turn around to inspect what I might have rubbed off the wall, hoping I didn't damage something.
I find what looks like the remnants of a mural, of what I am not sure since I can't make out much of it. I lean in to take a closer look but in my concentration of trying to figure out what this image is I drop the blank mask in my hands. I curse to myself and immediately go to catch it but it slips through my fingers and a crack in the floor as well. I curse louder this time and grumble to myself about ruined temples having basements, looking around to see if I can see anything that used to be a staircase.

Actions: The thought of going into the muggy forest makes me cringe so I dress lightly and stick a couple of frozen water bottles into my travel bag. Camargue floats skittishly by the door waiting for me to be ready, I know they are waiting for me but they will most likely leave before me anyway so they can guide me from ahead. Fledge seems keen on going with me, ready to protect me from any apparent dangers, I smile and smooth her feathers back against her head, she preens but puts on a determined look.
We get to the edge of the forest just as the sun has set and I can see the faint white glow dancing among the trees and follow where it leads me, it seems that Camargue is leading me somewhere in the forest, and I'm not about to ignore the call of a pathfinder.

It took some time but we had finally arrived at the Crystal Cave. It was as gorgeous as always, and the look on Clara made me smile; her first venture out seemed to be going unbelievably well. We began our trek through the cave now, continuing on until we found what seemed like the best place to stop. I felt a light headbutt against a bag of mine and I giggled, knowing exactly what my sweet Xoal was implying. I reached into the bag and pulled out our Singing Bowl, placing it gently down on the ground in front of us, "I think thats all we have to do..." I mumbled, moving back beside Claramond and watching the item before us eagerly.

Actions: Wubie and I set out for the grasslands this time. I spend most of the day sight seeing and traveling to the grasslands. Once we get there I set out a small blanket and lay down to just stare at the stars and relax. (P.S. I made sure to set up my blanket upwind of the burying grasses....)
