Herd Leaders are not adoptable.Known to wander in the Forest of Voices, the moon herd, in their black and purple hides, is nearly impossible to find unless they want to be. Their habits are not well documented - their sleeping habits, eating preferences and how they communicate is mostly a mystery. What is known is that they appreciate the beautiful side of life - they have been known to leave wood carvings behind when the herd moves.
A visitor hoping to find the moon herd and bring one of their number home with them should be ready to exhibit their own artistic abilities.Β
Talayeth
The leader of the moon herd is Talayeth, more commonly referred to as Tal. She is the only female herd leader among the kalans in the Springs - she defends her position by consistently ousting her opponents in various artistic contests, including dance and singing competitions. Tal has a crescent moon on her left shoulder and her long horns mark her position as leader.

I had wandered the Forest of Voices for a while aimlessly unsure of what to do. I hold the Talayeth antler I found in my hands as a I wander, hoping the moon herd will show itself to me. I had found a few wood carvings and stopped to appreciate them for only a moment to continue walking. My heart soared when a kalan tail came into view and I eagerly approached the herd.Β
When I approach Talayeth I have a few pieces ready to show her.Β
"Hello Tal, I brought an antler from your herd, I hope to befriend one of your herd." I shuffle and bring up some of my previous work Rhapsody on a Windy Night / Cressyla / Starry Showers
"I'm a pixel artist and have done many a piece of my springs pets in the past. I offer you a pixel piece and a few of your herd members in a pixel scene in exchange for a kalan companion."

Tal and her herd regard you with curiosity - the art you have brought with you has drawn their attention. Tal pushes her way through the more eager kalan crowding around you and stands in front with her head held high. She glances up at the sky and then back at you. She wishes to see your representation of the stars before she will consider your request.
Talayeth would like you to draw or create something that depicts stars. Once you have returned with a new piece to show her, she will grant your request.

I watch her anxiously, hoping my interpretation wasn't TOO out there.
